Patrick Swayze Diagnosed With Cancer, Five Weeks Left to Live

Atlanta, GA 3/05/2008 03:05 PM GMT (FINDITT)

Patrick Swayze, best known for his role in Dirty Dancing, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and told that he has just five weeks to live.

Swayze, 55, has been sick with the disease since he was diagnosed in late January with pancreatic cancer. The cancer has since spread to other organs and now the actor/dancer is dying.

For the past month, Swayze has been traveling to Stanford University’s prestigious cancer center in Palo Alto for radical chemotherapy, but his doctors are no longer optimistic that the treatments will be successful, according to the National Enquirer.

Swayze received three treatments of chemotherapy, causing the tumor to shrink, but less than his doctors had hoped for. He was then told that he should prepare for the end.

Perez Hilton posted this : However, a very good source just told us the following:

"Patrick has been at rehearsals for a new cheer leading movie at century city studio frequently lately, and he definitely does not look like he has 5 more weeks of life left…im not sure of his medical condition(s), but if he is gravely ill, he is hiding it very well."

I hope he pulls through, if so.

Enjoyed his work and he always seemed to be a very personable and genuine guy. Hope all goes well.

I hope it's not true, I really do.

That said, I've known people with just months/weeks to live and they were able to hide it until almost the very end. It just depends on the person I suppose.

I am going to comfortably rest in the denial stage until I hear more information.

I love Patrick Swayze well past the point of sense.

Nobody puts Swayze in a corner...not even terminal cancer!

I'm assuming this isn't true, given the source. Hopefully we'll find out the truth soon. I'm sure the media is on top of it trying to confirm.

It's BABY that won't get put in a corner. We have no evidence as to Dalton one way or the other.

Pancreatic cancer is usually a quick death sentence, but...

When have you ever read a story like that that states just how long they have to live?... it's just not done that way.

..."According to the National Enquirer." Um, yeah. I hope it's not true either, but the Enquirer sucks so hopefully it's not.

Man I just watched Roadhouse last night cuz of Jeff passing. Now this. That Polar Bear is lucky it's already stuffed.

Horrible news. Always enjoyed his work, some probably alot more than I should have.

His publicist confirmed it - BUT they also confirmed that the whole "5 weeks to live" thing is NOT true. They said he's responding well to treatment, and is continuing to work.

So very true. Dana Reeve looked great when she sang during Mark Messier night at MSG. She died less than a month later from lung cancer.

Healey's passing reminded me that I had never seen Road House for some reason, so I put it in my NetFlix queue.

This is sad. I never met him or anything, but he really seemed like a nice guy from interviews.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive malignancies out there.... even 1 year survival rates from time of diagnosis is small.

I was shocked by this also. First Jeff Healey earlier this week, now it doesn't look good for Patrick. I have alway's enjoyed his movies ( except for Dirty Dancin ) but even that is ok, I guess. I loved Red Dawn and Point Break. and his appearence on Saturday Night Live was legendary. Just terrible news.

Such a shame, as I think he will always be remembered for Ghost and Dirty Dancing, but growing up my 2 favorite guilty pleasures movies were Youngblood and Roadhouse.
