Ben Foster appreciation thread.

Any love for him?

I seem to love when he pops up in movies I had no idea he was in. Ever since I saw him in "Alpha Dog" i just thought he had this searing rage that just can't be taught. he was literally mesmerizing.

then, i didn't know until i saw "3:10 To Yuma" and "30 Days of Night" that he was in. and he was great in those. he has this intensity that you don't see everyday. and it seems to revel in these off beat angry characters. even though the movies weren't great he was good in "The Punisher" and "Hostage". i also remember him in "Six Feet Under" and brought lot to Claire's artist boyfriend/would-be stalker.

i really hope he does a lot more as i am coming to really like this one.

They need to cast him and Josh Lucas together in some brother-movie. They look so much alike.

Funny, I was thinking of starting this thread after seeing 30 Days of Night. Ben Foster is a great actor. I've enjoyed watching him in every role I've seen him in. Unfortunately, he does shit movies like Alpha Dog and doesn't get noticed for the actor he is. 3:10 To Yuma was an obvious step up but of course his solid performance was overshadowed by Bale and Crowe. I thought 30 Days of Night was a great movie but Foster had a small role in it and it wasn't really a "big" movie. Hopefully, Foster will get more roles in bigger movies and get appreciated for the actor he is.

I didn't care for him in 30 days of Night, but thought he was great in Yuma.

He was alright in 30 Days of Night but I didn't like him at all in Yuma, felt improperly cast/didn't buy it. Was kind of wasted in X3 (but then, what in that movie wasn't?)

Him, Josh Lucas, and Ryan Gosling should get together sometime and play brothers.

He looks a lot like that Jon Foster guy, too. They should play brothers.

I'll always remember him as the loveable retard Eli on Freaks and Geeks.

3:10 to Yuma was his best performance, by far.

It's amazing seeing how different he is in Freaks & Geeks, X3, Six Feet Under, 3:10 and 30 Days. He transforms himself really well for roles.

It wasn't until I rewatched Freaks & Geeks recently that I realized it was him. When I first watched it I had thought it was a Corky-type situation.

Great actor. Everytime he's in something it's completely different. He was the only thing that made Alpha Dog worth watching. Definately one to keep an eye on.

I agree that he is a really great actor. I remember seeing him on the Disney TV series "Flash Forward" a while back. So he is one of the few "Disney Kids" able to shake that image and get some really great roles.

Whenever I see his name I immediately think of Ben Weasel from Screeching Weasel who shares a surname.

Hated him in "Yuma." Thought this was a complete miscast, and I couldn't take him seriously as an outlaw.

For me, his career began and ended with the Canadian kids' show "Flash Forward," in which he was best friends with Jewel Staite of "Firefly"/"Serenity."

3:10 to Yuma, Hostage and Alpha Dog wouldn't be that watchable without Ben. He's the reason I still remember these films

After seeing Alpha Dog, 3:10 to Yuma, and his laughably awful, terribly annoying performance in the otherwise decent 30 Days of Night, Ben Foster's name in a movie's cast list is now an automatic red flag as far as I'm concerned.

I liked him well enough in Six Feet Under, and thought he was ridiculously HOT as angel-boy in X3. Gave me a whole new fetish for angel-boys.

Other than that I haven't seen most of his recent stuff. But I look forward to checking out Yuma and 30 Days of Night to decide for myself whether he's too over-the-top.
