Dexter: The Game?

I LOVE the show...but I dunno about this.

March 3, 2008 - Tomorrow, Showtime Networks and Marc Ecko Entertainment will announce that they have partnered up to create an all-new videogame based on the popular award-winning show, Dexter. Though a specific development team has yet to be named, Ecko Entertainment has said that it will work closely with Showtime to keep the game as faithful to the television show as possible.

"Dexter is the extremely rare TV show with enough layers of action and tension to translate perfectly into a compelling videogame," said Marc Fernandez, Vice President of Marc Ecko Entertainment. "Our game designers, writers, and artists are going to give Dexter's morally complex world the kind of interactivity that gamers will love."

A favorite show among several editors at the IGN offices, and winner of our award for Best Television Show of 2007, Dexter tells the story of title character Dexter Morgan -- a blood spatter expert in the Miami police department who moonlights as a serial killer who hunts down and dispatches other murderers.

Admit it -- you're humming the theme song right now.
The series, which has also won Emmy and AFI awards, is based on author Jeff Lindsay's series of books that have seen three novels so far: Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter, and Dexter in the Dark.

Plot details, developer info (it isn't Human Head, which is working with Marc Ecko Entertainment on a separate project) and gameplay specifics are expected to appear over the next several months.

A release date and specific platforms have not yet been confirmed.

I haven't seen much of the show, but I don't know how this would work. Of course, there is a CSI game out there as well. If it's an easy 1000, I'll give it a rent. Otherwise, I'll pass.

I think "Dexter" would make a good board game. Kind of like "Operation" with a twist.

You have to cut the body in pieces without straying off the dotted lines...

It should be a Wii game since the Wiimote could be used to simulate knife cuts.

Wait 'til the ESRB and/or Jack Thompson gets a load of this.

I never heard of Dexter. The first thing I thought was either Dexter's Laboratory or a game based on the Offspring

Loved Dexter Seasons 1 and 2, but a video game? I'm not sure of this. It could work if it's a sort of twisted Manhunt theme.

Yeah, sounds like it could be a Manhunt/Condemned type game... I dunno about this though... An original story with the real voices would be ace, though.

I really like the show, but I don't know how it would translate to a game. We'll see, I guess. I may rent it when it comes out, but I highly doubt that I'll purchase it.

Are there plans for a PS2 port of Daxter? I just picked up Jak X: Combat Racing and, although a whole lot of fun, it's obviously a very different game than the the first three Jak and Daxter games. A PS2 port of Daxter would really help my need for another Jak and Daxter platformer until whenever Naught Dog might decide to make a PS3 Jak and Daxter game.
