Anyone else see his review for Juno? Well hes probably biting that pill now, Diablo Cody won an oscar for her screenwriting. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'd say she best deserved it since I heard very good things about the movie. Anyone agree? Sorry if posted already. Review here.

Hey I was bored, wanted something interesting to talk about, and it obviously isn't working.

Re-fixed. <3

This would probably be better suited toward the reviews forum.

Also, keep in mind that tastes differ.

that's my general opinion of the recent overrated Best Picture winner.

FWIW, the first line of the review is -

"If Diablo Cody is the future of screenwriting, then I'll bite down angrily on a cyanide pill now."

Anyway, the thread title is somewhat vague...

Oh and I agree with a lot in that review, though I liked the flick. But it certainly did not belong in a Best Picture category... and the script was, well... like reading a blog. Nothing groundbreaking IMHO.

Also I think the last line of the review sums up EXACTLY how I felt about the movie... but I am mildly amused with a hamburger phone.

I never thought of it that way until you made your comment ... how true.

or as one filmgoing patron I overheard while leaving the theatre stated - "awww that was precious'" something you'd say about a trinket or as vapid as the movie ultimately was.

Well, Brian got practically every facet of his review wrong!

Just goes to show you that you shouldn't let the opinion of reviewer affect your attendance at or enjoyment of any film.

What's is ironic is that Brian uses the exact same brand of wit in his review than he pans in the movie. Frankly, having read quite a few of his reviews, I'm surprised that he DIDN'T like Juno. But hey, I'm a Buffy fan and hate Angel.

I'm going to give Brian a major pass, because hell, the man is a review machine. Who knows what he may have seen before or after, or what happened right before he went into the theater.

Every reviewer has his good and bad reviews. I don't view him any less because his dart hit the shudder instead of the board. He hit the board far more often.

...and since I created a thread specifically to agree with Mr. Orndorf's spot-on absolutely perfect review of Juno, here it is : http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=521414

Well I thought Tilda Sweeden's performance in Michael Clayton was pretty pedestrian, but the Academy has proven us both wrong with our "spot-on" perfect reviews

It was honored because it was the last of the three films, and really, all of them were being honored that year. At least that's what I believe.

Personally, I'll take the opinion of you, Brian, or almost anyone on the board over the Academy. It's far too politically/agenda driven, which is why I think it's funny to see the winners labeled as "right" or "wrong."

But in this case, I also thought Tilda was awesome for the short time she was on screen .

Maybe they were giving Tilda an Oscar for the overall quality of her work, including in other movies where her parts were much larger. That wouldn't be the first time that's happened.

Actually, I thought his review was spot-on. I thought Juno was a banal turd that should have been a cinematic abortion before it even hit theaters. But I also hated Crash and look what happened there...
