George Washington Loves to Dance and Jump: Weekend Box Office for 2/14 to 2/18

Early estimates are showing that Jumper and Step Up 2 The Streets (ugh) are close to take number one on the box office for Valentine's Day.

To be honest, I think Jumper will win the box office this weekend. It has a larger audience appeal than Step Up 2 which I believe will start to drop come Sunday (the teens will see it Friday and Saturday and that'll be it).

Spiderwick may be the dark horse depending on it's Saturday and Sunday numbers, but Jumper and Step Up 2 do have the early lead.

I hope Definately, Maybe pulls some legs. It's time for Ryan Reynolds to have some box office success.

Why hasn't Fool's Gold took a huge drop yet? It's the second worst reviewed film of the year (right behind Meet the Spartans) and people are still flocking to see it. Sigh.

I'm actually surprised Fool's Gold or Definitely, Maybe weren't bigger because of V-Day. Oh well.

I saw a 4:20pm showing of the latter last night before dinner.

In a 300 seat theater, there were only five couples (including my girlfriend and I) there.

Well, good for Rambo outlasting Spartans at least.

not a lot of people really go to the movies on Thursdays. It's not a "Holiday" where you take the day off.

I don't know about you guys, but around here, "Definitely Maybe" is only getting 5 showtimes a night.

While "Jumper", "Step Up 2" and "The Spiderwick Chronicles" are getting between 10 and 15.

I was expecting Fool's Gold to be a nuke at the box office (a really major bomb if you don't know), but it's faring (slightly) better than I thought.

But Step Up 2 the Streets always gets me giggling. The trailer looked ridiculous, and the title is this decade's Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Yeah, but for Valentines Day where couples are usually out to dinner, I expected many to take in the romantic movie. A few million on Thursday night isn't bad, I just didn't think Jumper would beat them out.

I think How She Move will hold this year's crown as dumbest movie title.

By the way, Jumper is playing at 1,000 more theaters than Step Up 2, yet barely won on Thursday. That doesn't sound promising.
