Hi all

I was wondering if anyone happens to remember the title of a time travel movie from a few years ago, I think it came out around the same time as "Butterfly Effect."

The plot, IIRC, was supposed to be about a group of scientists who had invented a machine to allow them to travel to the past, but as observers only. The machine projected some type of path which was surrounded by a force field. As long as they stayed on the path they couldn't be harmed, detected, nor make any changes to the past. Then somehting happened and 1 or more of the studens fell and stepped off the path. After returning from the trip, they find the world h is drastically different becuae of thier tiny mis-step in past. In fact it's kind of a similiar plot as Butterfly Effect in that a tiny change in the distant past could have a huge impact on the future. However, I distinctly remember something about a path (similiar to yellow Brick Road in Oz, lol) and that the distant being travelled was was in the order of thousands, if not 100s of thousands, uears

Reviews paint it as being a waste of time to watch it, but I don't always agree with reviews, and I'm a huge fan of time travel movies. So, is it worth my time?

I thought it was horrendous. Unwatchable, in fact. I gave up after an hour or so, and I have sat through some real crap (including Uwe Boll's The House of the Dead).

Mongo, as a fan of time travel movies: have you checked out Primer?

Agreed. This was so bad, I couldn't believe it got a theatrical release. I too put up with it for about an hour before I called it quits. Waste of time, imo.

when I first heard of A sound of thunder I thought i looked cool. but the movies pretty lousy. theres some nice moments, but mostly its pretty awful with some really bad CGI.

I highly recommend "Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveller' if you want to see a good time traveling movie.

Is this out on DVD?

Terrible, terrible movie. Definitely in Uwe Boll's league. I gave up around the time they were trying to "outrun" the time changes.

Speaking of Primer, is the writer/director doing anything as a follow-up? IMDB says nothing but I'd see it as madness if nothing else is made.
Or maybe the guy got Troy Duffy syndrome and it all went to his head?

Primer is like reading a research paper movies are supposed to be about the visual aspects. I love anything time travel related but didnt care for Primer

To me, Primer was more a meditation than a research paper; it's not a real flashy, high-action film, but rather one that slowly explores the issues of trust that affect the two protagonists. I also thought that for such a low-budget film it was very visually interesting. For example, the way the one visual effect in the film is handled I found to be very creative and interesting.

Shouldn't that then be that you love almost anything time travel related?
