BioWare working on proper KOTOR sequel?

http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/02...-kotor-sequel/

A new KOTOR game was seemingly announced at an EA Analyst Meeting this morning. At the meeting a list of what were previously BioWare/Pandemic-owned studios was presented, along with the games in production at each. While there are a myriad of games on the list, the BioWare-developed list is the most interesting by far, as the contents address a host of rumors and speculation. It seems that BioWare is developing not only an MMO but a real sequel in the KOTOR series. As KOTOR fans We can't think of anyone we'd rather have develop the third (and one might think last; trilogies and all) game in the KOTOR series than BioWare. Great news, but what does this mean about the "New MMO"? Is it Star Wars based? Is it something totally new? BioWare has had success with new IP lately ... dare we say Mass Effect MMO?
The first KOTOR was actually one of the few games that I have ever finished playing. The 2nd one, not so much.

i'd take that with a grain of salt. I thought that I had read that Fight Night was no longer going to be made, yet that's listed - as well is another Boogie title really needed?

Do they have the rights to make KOTOR games still? If so, then I have no doubt we'll see another.

Bioware and Lucasarts are working on something, but nothing has been announced/confirmed yet. That looks more like a "Who's in our company and here's the games they made" list. Until i see confirmation, contain my excitement i will.

Ditto. They've got all sorts of pre-existing stuff listed (The Sims, SKATE, Warhammer, Command & Conquer), and while they could be talking about sequels, they could also be saying "Here's what they've been doing the last few years."

That said, LucasArts is working on something with Bioware -- see http://www.lucasartsbioware.com/.

As for the MMORPG, it's been in development for about two years. I suspect that it's still a while off given that they haven't given us any information on the setting, gameplay, etc.

I never finished the first Kotor. I got really into it for a minute, maybe 10 hours deep, but then had to put it down and when I picked it up again I had no idea what was going on. I really enjoyed the gameplay mechanics, so maybe a new game is in order.

Not to thread crap, but I sure do hope they make another Fight Night. I loved the last one.

I enjoyed it too - and a new one would be cool, but it still seems to be missing something, but I can't put my finger on what.

Somewhat off topic, but still related to the image in the first post. Is the second Mass Effect due this year, or are we thinking 2009? I just started the first game last night and haven't been following sequel news at all.

Looks like we may have gotten a little ahead of ourselves yesterday when we reported that the Knights of the Old Republic series was heading back into BioWare's able hands. According to a note from EA PR, the slide in the analyst report referenced by Eurogamer (pictured above) only referred to KOTOR as part of BioWare's past portfolio, and did "not specifically address future sequels."

BioWare fans shouldn't despair though ... EA did confirm that the "New MMO" listed on the slide is, in fact, a new MMO under development at BioWare Austin. So ... yeah. With the reports of a BioWare/LucasArts collaboration and rumors of a KOTOR connection still floating around, the speculation train isn't likely to be derailed here

Rumor: KOTOR III Concept Art?
Posted Feb 27th 2008 4:30PM by Terrence Stasse

Long the source of many rumors and much speculation, the possibility of KOTOR III being a real project just became a bit clearer. With the rumor mill spinning anew, we bring you latest loose talk, that is, possible KOTOR III concept art. Discovered in a hidden folder on the concept artist's website, the art showcases everything from main characters to droids and ships. Now when we saw that news for the first time, we got excited, thinking this had to be real, that no one can fake good concept art. Well, this stuff is the real deal, but perhaps not in the way we would have wanted. See, it's dated from almost four years ago, in early/mid 2004. Now a quick wiki check reveals that KOTOR II was released in 2005, and that much of that game was left on the cutting room floor to ensure a holiday release. So in all likelihood these concepts are from that game, just never used. Still, it's nice concept art, and we'd love to be proved wrong, as we've said before: Bioware + Mass Effect tech + KOTOR IP = Massive Win.
So, I'm not sure if they are refuting their own rumor or not.

What nonsense. They know it's not KOTOR III concept art, yet they publish a story with a headline and lead-in like that? Give me a break.
