Celebrity Deaths: the people that may feel responsible/guilty for their deaths?

With Heath Ledger's shocking death, I always wonder who are the people close to them that "may" feel most responsible or guilty for possibly leading them to death? I stress "may" because whoever connected most likely didn't do anything directly, but if they are pretty connected to the situation that drove them to death, these people may be pretty haunted by the deaths, more so than others. I'm just curious about the guilt factor. For example:

1. Heath Ledger: Christopher Nolan? Heath put in so much effort and stress into the Joker role, that he had unhealthy behavior to get into character. Maybe Nolan feels partly responsible?

2. Owen Hart: Who's the guy that threw him off? I remember in the news that I thought he just jumped off. Did he jump or was he thrown? Didn't a guy totally throw Owen far off the mark from the mat and into the siding? They said that he wasn't properly wired up? But wasn't Owen Hart just thrown incorrectly?

3. Brandon Lee: Who's the guy that shot him with the real bullet?

4. Anne Nicole Smith and son: Doctors and lawyer husband? Not enough confrontation from preventing them doing unhealthy things?

Can anyone think of any other celebrities in which people close to them either could feel very guilty or actually directly causing the death?

I almost feel Gilliam would feel more responsible since he was the head honcho when Ledger apparently got sick (while walking around London). From the sounds of it, I doubt very seriously Nolan is blaming himself (as Ledger was apparently really happy on the Batman set).

The problem with this sort of rationalizing is that you could blame any number of people that came into that person's life depending on how deep you go with it and the nature of consequences... I mean, why not blame the guy who gave him his first break in acting? Without him maybe he would just be another normal guy working in a community theater somewhere and wouldn't be in this situation.

The Owen and Brandon things are a bit different because they deal with specific liabilities.

On May 23, 1999, Hart fell to his death in Kansas City, Missouri during the Over the Edge pay-per-view event.[34] Owen was in the process of being lowered into the ring from the rafters of Kemper Arena for a booked Intercontinental Championship match against The Godfather. In keeping with the Blazer's new 'buffoonish superhero' character, Hart was to be lowered to just above ring level, at which time he would release himself from the safety harness and fall flat on his face for comedic effect. It was an elaboration on a Blue Blazer stunt done previously on the Sunday Night Heat before Survivor Series 1998.[35] This time, something went wrong with the stunt harness, apparently triggering the release mechanism early as he was being lowered. Owen fell 78 feet (24 meters) into the ring, landing chest-first on the top rope, approximately a foot from the turn buckle, throwing him into the ring. In Mick Foley's autobiography Have a Nice Day: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks, Mick claims that following the fall, Owen attempted to sit up but only got up a few inches from the mat before falling still and lying motionless.

Owen had performed the stunt only a few times before, and was worried about performing the stunt at Kemper Arena due to the height involved (Owen had a fear of heights). Owen's wife Martha has suggested that, by moving around to get comfortable with both the harness and his cape on, Owen unintentionally triggered an early release.

TV viewers at home did not see the incident or its aftermath -- at the moment of the fall, a pre-taped vignette was being shown on the pay-per-view broadcast as well as on the monitors in the darkened arena. After, while Owen was being worked on by medical personnel inside the ring, the live event's broadcast showed only the audience. Meanwhile, WWF television announcer Jim Ross repeatedly told those watching live on pay-per-view that what had just transpired was not a wrestling angle or storyline and that Hart was hurt badly, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Owen was transported to the Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Owen had actually died while still being tended to in the ring. The cause was later revealed to be internal bleeding from blunt chest trauma.

2. I believe the investigation decided that Owen accidently hit the release mechanism on the cords way too early. There are a lot of stories surrounding exactly what happened though. Oddly enough I read an interesting blurb just yesterday about people claiming to see Owen's ghost at the Kemper arena.

AnchorWeb.org's Haunted America takes a look at the Kemper Arena in their most recent article. They are saying that in recent years, there have been multiple reports of sightings of (the ghost of) Owen Hart, who in May 1999, fell nearly 80 feet to his death after he unintentionally triggered an early release from the cable he was being lowered into the ring from. Regarding Owen, they wrote: "Employees have claimed to have seen him in the rafters wearing the costume he was wearing for his gimmick as well as the cable before he began the descent. There have also been reports of flickering lights and other power sources that seem to go on and off in some areas of the arena."
3. That would be Michael Massee. He took a year off from Hollywood after the incident and admited a few years back that he struggles with what happened to Brandon all the time.

1. I blame no one, period. It was accident OD. We cannot point finger at anyone who responsible for his sleeping problem.
2. Owen Hart, who?
3. I heard that it was debris inside gun that killed Brandon, not a bullet. It was freak accident.
4. I don't care what happened to her.

"We only went for a dip. I don't know what happened."

I know he isn't responsible, but there were some people who thought he actually drowned Wood himself. Ridiculous.

I have a friend who can kill celebrities. One time we were checking out what was on TV and an old Katherine Hepburn movie was on a PBS station. He said "She isn't dead yet, is she?" She died within the next couple days.

Another time he forwarded an email to several friends about an article where in a "Three's Company" episode, John Ritter's balls are visible for a split-second. John Ritter died a few days after.

After having to give up his seat for a bus, Waylon Jennings snidely told Buddy Holly that he hoped their plane crashes. He felt bad for years about it.

A strange group of actors (seriously, Wood, Walken, and Wagner? Who would have thunk it) and one drowns... I'm surprised more movies about that haven't been made.

Kind of.

They had shot a close-up of the revolver using a fake bullet (to make it look like the gun was loaded). When they loaded the gun with the blanks for the next scene, the fake bullet was still in the gun. Since a blank uses a small amount of gunpowder, it managed to fire the bullet with enough force to kill Brandon at close range.

A damn shame - I'm a huge fan of The Crow (obviously) but it can be tough to watch.

I can understand not buying into the conspiracy theory since all it is just a bunch of coincedental/circumstantial evidence. I've done my research on the whole thing and I tend to agree that there probably was no foul play involved that would link Courtney Love directly to the death of Kurt Cobain.

However, assuming that Cobain did commit suicide, its hard to believe that his rollercoaster relationship with Love wasn't one of the reasons he killed himself.

I don't know much about Courtney Love but if I knew that my relationship with someone was one of the reasons they committed suicide, I'd feel pretty guilty about it.

Of course I could be way off and their relationship could have been peaches and Cobain could have just been crazy.

I'd be pretty upset about the whole thing if I were the actor that pulled the trigger that accidently killed Lee. But I think I'd be able to forgive myself since the real blame (if you can/should blame anyone for the tragedy) probably falls on the weapons specialist.
