New Xbox 360 Originals: Black, NG Black, Pirates
Linkage
I got to the last boss on the original Xbox Ninja Gaiden, which I felt was enough of an accomplishment
I rented NG Black, but didn't get too far. I might pick that up again. And I never got around to playing Black - what's the general opinion on that? I seem to remember it got decent reviews.
On February 11, the 360's Xbox Originals will see another small update to its still-slender selection, this time adding Ninja Gaiden Black, Sid Meier's Pirates!, and the Criterion FPS Black to the roster.
Pirates! is the 2004 re-make of Sid Meier's original 1987 adventure game, which sees players taking on the roles of pirates (duh) in the Spanish Main. Black is Criterion's adrenaline-fueled last-gen FPS, with destructible environments and a healthy amount of explosions. Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden Black added a number of features to the original Xbox title, including the condescending "Ninja Dog" easy mode.
All good additions, to be sure, but with Valentine's Day coming only three days later, couldn't they have at least included something a bit more romantic? Like, say, Beyond Good & Evil?

Black is Burnout transplanted to a shooter.
It's fast/furious with lots of big weapons killing lots of things, sadly it's also a bit repetative. Still fun, though. You should be able to find a used copy from EB cheaper than $15.

Pirates is one of the 3 original XBOX games I never sold. I don't think I'll pay for it again but hearing this makes me want to play it again.

Not the best video quality, but the game is one of the best looking of last gen.

Here are the BC issues with each game:
* BLACK: There are some minor lighting issues with non-player characters.
* Ninja Gaiden Black: No audio is heard during the display of the publisher logo. There is a minor performance drop during the Alma cutscene.
* Sid Meier's Pirates!: There is minor stuttering during the introductory video, and there is some texture tearing and instances of textures disappearing in the game

Ninja Gaiden Black?!? Hell Yeah! I got room for you on my 120 GB HD and i have over 8,000 pts to burn thru. What better way to waste some pts than on a game i'm never gonna beat.

I've played both Pirates and NG Black exclusively on a BC 360 and never noticed any problems.

I am no longer the gamer I used to be, but I really "got" the first Xbox Ninja Gaiden. I understood that every single enemy could kill me if I didn't play smart. I started treating almost every encounter as a "fighting game" round - lots of parries, blocks, dodges, etc. It takes a while to fight your way through that way, but I quickly improved my skills and made it all the way to the final boss. Though I was so tired of it by then that when I died the first few times I just said "fuck it" and shut it off. I didn't need to see a cutscene to feel a sense of accomplishment. Just getting there was feeling enough.
I think I'm going to get both Ninja Gaiden Black. I've a hankering to get back into that game. And Black sounds right up my alley as well.

Ninja Gaiden Black is great game! I think you can pick it up at Circuit City for $16.99 if they still have it in stock. The last boss kicked my ass the first time I fought him but the second time he went down pretty easily on normal difficulty. I was planning on beating it on the harder difficulty but I never got around to it. I want to unlock all the weapons / costumes...

I bought Psychonauts, having it on the HDD is super convenient, shame theres so little space (I won't be upgrading to the 120 for a while). So yes.

NGB also added two new difficulty modes to the original three. The original NG had normal, hard, and very hard difficulty modes. NGB adds an easy mode (ninja dog mode) as already said, and it also adds an insanely hard mode called master ninja mode.
Let me tell you, master ninja mode is brutal as hell. I am an excellent Ninja Gaiden player, and I actually consider normal mode to be easy. I can beat very hard without much difficulty. Yet I have never beaten master ninja. The Alma battle on master ninja kicks me in the nuts every time.
The reason that most gamers find NG so hard is because they treat it just like any other action game. IE they button mash and don't really pay attention to what is going on. For 99.9% of action games, you can do this and still beat the game because all the common grunt enemies are so pathetically easy and only the bosses pose any real challenge. However, like Draven said, every single enemy in NG is deadly. If you button mash, you will lose plain and simple.

Neither.
Xbox Originals is like Xbox Live Arcade for original Xbox games. They're $15 a piece and feature no extra features or achievement points.
It's a convenience thing as the games are already Backwards Compatible with the 360 -- you could just as easily go to EB and buy them.
