The drops are huge this weekend -- not a surprise considering it's Super Bowl weekend. However, Hannah Montana has a shot of making it to $30 million -- a first for a Super Bowl weekend.

The Rambo drop kills me, nearly 70% from last weekend. I honestly thought it would have legs.

It also looks like Cloverfield is going to take another 60-65% drop as well.

Whats more upseting is that Meet the Spartans hit Rambo in the mouth.

Rambo has still made more money than MTS.

Sucks to see Cloverfield go down, though to note, our good theater is only showing Cloverfield with open captioning due to Hannah Montana taking over their sole DLP theater.

Hannah Montana, either the theater is nearly empty or completely sold out.. Heh.

Particularly stunning considering how many theaters that Montana movie is in - yow. Never underestimate the teen girl audience. They made "Titanic," after all.

It isn't that surprising, gotta remember when Borat came out in 2006 in 837 theaters and grossed $26.5m it's opening weekend. Hannah Montana is such a well established brand that really it's kind of expected, the Saturday and Sunday numbers will blow Friday away. The thing is, this is less teen girl and more tween girl. Whereas the Titanic audience could find rides or drive to see the movie over and over again, the majority of the Hannah Montana audience has to have their parents present, or at least a chaperon.

I honestly can see it doing upwards of $12-14 million on Saturday alone.

Sunday? No. Not a chance in hell. It's Super Bowl Sunday.

I still think there will be some good business until about 1 or 2pm (a lot of theaters are doing early morning showings) and then it'll drop hard.

I feel as it'll have no problem clearing $26-28 million this weekend.

I may be underestimating and it may pull off $30-35 million if it's lucky.

Two things to consider regarding Hannah Montana.

1.) If I'm correct in my memory, this concert film is only being shown for one week only. That would account for a rush of people seeing the film.

2.) Not long back when she was actually touring, there were numerous reports of families not being able to afford the scalpers prices for tickets. All the people who didn't see the actual show, are much more likely to flock to this.

There have been talks that it may be extended to a second week -- don't know if it is official or that was just rumors and speculation.

I know a few DLP theaters in my area are holding off until 2/15 to show U2:3D (despite the fact it's been playing in two IMAX theaters here since last Wednesday).

I disagree ... actually it's the perfect Super Bowl counter program. How many teen (and younger) girls would rather see Hannah Montana than a football game? And how many housewives would be more than happy to drive them to the nearest theater than afternoon?

Also keep in mind the Hannah Montana tickets were a flat $18 ($15 presell) with no exceptions for youth tickets or matinees. This should make a huge difference for the Saturday and Sunday matinees.

Is this the first concert film ever to open at #1?

3.) The ticket prices are higher than that of a regular flick.

No movie pulls in over $1.8 billion worldwide just on the pull of teenage girls. Titanic brought in hordes of people across all demographics.

I was at the theater at the first showings. I noticed a long line waiting to get in. At first I wondered what was going on until I saw all the young girls. Then I remembered which movie was opening. There were girls wearing their Best of Both Worlds Tour t-shirts.

As I was leaving the theater after my movie there another line for the next showing.

Thank god HM is only showing for a week.

Looks like the NFL should have had Hanna do the half-time show instead of geezer Tom Petty.

Actually Titantic was not made by the teen girl audience but the 18-35 year old female audience.

WTF does a game on Sunday have to do with people going to see a movie on Friday or Saturday?

Wow. Just, wow. Hannah Montana really is something else. That's insane, especially considering the theater count. I suppose the fixed ticket price helped, but that's still impressive. I wouldn't doubt a 2nd week holdover for a second.

Rambo's drop sucks. Big time. That movie deserves to do so well. It should have a great shelf life on DVD, however.

Cloverfield? Well, the drops continue, but with the budget costs this thing is making a great profit. Plus, this gives the filmmkaers a chance to gauge what worked and what didn't for the inevitable sequel.

O.K., really really shocked at the huge "Rambo" drop. User comments everywhere I've seen online have been extremely positive.

Why? As far as pop music goes, Hannah Montana is fairly benign.

You hate pre-teen girls? Do you hate kids when they go see Ratatouille....or just when they go see Hannah Montana?

I do question any adult who willingly pays money to see Meet the Spartans, but a kid wanting to see something aimed at them?

And it'll be fun to watch her slide into alcoholism and porno.
