I need a good adventure game for my wife

OK, I just showed my wife Myst 5 last night and she liked the idea but I knew in my head it may be too involved or deep for her to enjoy..is there something siiliar to myst in its first person, adventure style that we both can enjoy?

Thanks

Ill look at the others, but she liked the first person..move click, think sort of thing... not really the action like I would like (tomb raider etc) same atmosphere, but different...

They aren't first person, but the LucasArts and Sierra adventure games cannot be beat.

The Phoenix Wright games on the DS, perhaps?

I don't know what console(s)/platforms you have.

Not first person, but one of the last and greatest commercial adventure games.

Now available of Steam for $20.

It isn't out yet, but the Lost videogame looks like it is an adventure game (it isn't 1st person though). Who knows if it will actually be any good.

Check out that site... Lots of fantastic freeware adventure games. I highly recommend The "Chzo Mythos". (5 Days a Stranger, 7 Days a Skeptic, Trilby's Notes, 6 Days a Sacrifice)

First thing I thought of. Yeah, it's old. But the Adventure game genre doesn't really age that much, since it's relatively low tech. It's a great game for non-gamers. With a couple of exceptions, the puzzles are very easy. It's one of the few games that's more popular with the fairer sex (though sensitive guys like me can love it too). And it's just great ... one of the games that can be pointed to if making the argument that the best video games can be considered an art form.

The sequel is quite good, with the glaring problem that
Spoiler:
the game is incomplete. The story just ends, with no finish in sight. And the story is the main thing in this game (for a game, there's very little actual gameplay).

It's hard to go wrong with any of the Lucas Arts classics. My favorites are Grim Fandango and the Monkey Island series. They're older, but both feature cartoon style graphics that fit the game perfectly - doing things more realistically or with fancy 3-D just wouldn't add anything.

For something newer, I like the Syberia games (1 and 2).

All of these are PC games - but since the OP mentioned Myst I assumed that was the gaming system of choice. Nice thing about adventure games is they're pretty non-demanding of your system.

How about Oblivion? Sure it's a bit hack-n'-slash, but wow what a great game.

Try out King's Quest for the PC. You can get the collection for less than $20 at most places. Part 1 - 7 are great, skip 8 though.

You can get the collection, or you can download the freeware remake:

If you can find it on PC, Indigo Prophecy is one of the best adventure games in years. A very emotional and involving story, great controls, and many easy to take in short chapters.

Get Fahrenheit instead, European version of Indigo Prophecy, I mean, I know your wife probably won't be into the nudity and sex but hey, you never know.

for PC, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend PORTAL, part of the orange box (Half Life 2). Its First Person, have to be very intelegent to get some of the puzzles, and very female freindly (My wife loves that game)
