I recently bought Veronica Mars Seasons 1 & 2 and I am currenty looking for a good deal on season 3 since I got great deals on Seasons 1 & 2. I heard Season 3 was not as good but I still want to see it. Does anyone know where there are some good deals on Season 3? THANKS!

probably won't drop in price for a few months at least, but you can get one for 20% off at the Deep Discount sale (about $30). Obviously not as good at the $15 specials BB and Target are running right now, but you may get lucky on BF at a B&M.

I paid $30.11 (shipped) with the DD sale.

The used sets on eBay are still going for over $30, so there really are no deals to be had (yet). Basically, its either wait a few months, or dish out the $30.

fortunately had a GC and RZ Certs. Mine was $0 to me. S3 has a different flavor than S1 & S2, but still enjoyable. The pitch for S4 was weird. Not sure I would have like it since S4 seemed to have no characters from S1, S2, or S3. The dissapointment was that S3 was only 20 episodes, not 22 or 24 like most series. It also ended with way too many open ends. Seems like there needed to be a couple more episodes to make it more complete of a season. Not really a cliffhanger, just open story lines. Kinda weird. Enjoy S1 & S2 and then wait, I am sure S3 will be cheap in the future.

I think all the open ends was because Rob Thomas wanted a 4th season. He thought he could forse the networks hand, but that didn't work. So he came up a pitch for the FBI deal. Atleast thats what I always thought, maybe I am wrong.

I agree. It seemed that way from the special features (the mutiple hours of them). The other thing was it seemed like maybe it stopped early before it could finish some under-stories. Also not to sure if the Veronica Mars FBI would have worked that quick as S4. A few more seasons and maybe. Part of the charm of the show was the other regulars and it would take time to write them off.

Yeah I agree. It was the idea of her growing up and her interactions with her father and peers that really made the show. But FBI Veronica was Rob Thomas's last-ditch effort for a fourth season. Kinda like how ONE TREE HILL is skipping 5 years for their next season. Personally I think FBI Veronica would have gotten very boring, very fast as a TV show - but would have made an awesome Miniseries (say 6 hours) to wrap everything up...

If Thomas had another story arc written (maybe six episodes). The writers strike happening. The network probably would've given him a mini-season. Bell is free, production halted on "Heroes". That would've rocked.

By the way. I hated the FBI direction. I always saw her becoming a PI full time. Maybe a botched assassination of her dad. He's in a coma, she has to drop out of school to run the business; pay the medical bills and living expenses. Mac and Wallace still help, maybe even hiring them. The main mystery - who tried to kill Keith Mars? Perhaps her mom?

Season 1 is by far the best season, but personally I'd take Season 3 over Season 2 for what that's worth.

I thought Season 3 was better than Season 2. I didn't see a dip in quality really, just an easier-to-follow storyline so they could attract more viewers. It was too hard for people who hadn't watched from the beginning to jump into the show otherwise. They wanted to be more accessible, and it didn't hurt the quality of the show, IMO. Season 2 was overly complicated with way too many characters. Even for me, someone who was watching from the beginning, was it exhausting to follow. I still enjoyed it, but it got too convoluted for its own good. Season 3 went at a good pace.

Anyway, I ordered mine from DDD for $30 like others. It's the cheapest you'll find it for awhile, and it's worth it. You already got deals on the first two seasons so it won't hurt you to pay more for the third. You'll have spent $60 on all three seasons, which is an average of $20 per-season. That's about as much as one movie new, or more depending. Yet this is better than most movies and gives you hours of entertainment. It's 6 discs. Don't be stingy. It's worth the price.

Uh Mike? Do you realize what forum you are posting in? The "be a good little consumer and don't worry about the price" forum is somewhere else. This is the "DVD Bargains" forum.

Considering that S3 normally sells for $47.99, and that its "sale" price until now has been $37.99, and that used copies on eBay are still cracking $30, I will reiterate that the $30.11 from DD is the best I expect to see for quite awhile. Hence, DVD Bargain.

I hear you can pick up a used copy of Criterion Salo for just under $100 at secondspin and that used copies on ebay are still cracking $300. Hence, DVD Bargain.

S1 and S2 each went on sale for under $20 within 3-4 months of release. S3 was only released less than a month ago. There will always be a "lowest price" at any given point in time, that doesn't automatically make that price a bargain.

I don't understand what the problem is. The whole idea of a "bargain" is entirely subjective. If you've had your eyes set on Salo, and the lowest price has been $300 for months, then of course $100 for the DVD would be a bargain. I don't think it's a bargain, and obviously you don't either, but that doesn't mean it won't be a bargain to someone else.

The OP was asking if there were any deals on S3 of Veronica Mars. There aren't, so we as good forum members, told the OP what the best price for the DVD set currently is.

And for what it's worth, I agree with Mike and LongOdds that $30 for a recently released TV show that I love is a great deal.

Saying that it is all subjective doesn't make it so.

The fact that previous seasons sold for significantly less within months of release suggests that the same is likely to occur with season 3 too. That's an objective evaluation.

Similarly, to bring my example of Salo full circle, Criterion has announced that they will be re-releasing the title in the near future. Thus any price over the regular Criterion pricing of ~$30 is not a bargain to anyone.

I've got no problem with people digging up the lowest current pricing, that's useful information. What is NOT useful are attempts to convince that we should pay what are objectively non-bargain prices because the poster thinks a show or movie is so great - that's the same thing marketers do and is inherently anti-bargain.

Its easy to make an argument when you make up your facts. S1 and S2 are NOW available at Best Buy for $14.99. When I purchased my copies, about 6 months ago, the cheapest they could be found was $19.99 (with patience and diligence). S1 was released 2 years ago, S2 a year ago. With the possible exception of a BF sale or two, there is NO WAY you found either disc for under $20 within a short time of release.

Actually, I can confirm that I was able to purchase S2 from Target for $19.99 (plus tax) within 4 months (maybe 6) of its release. I seem to recall finding a similar deal on S1, but it was after I had already paid more than $20 for it from DDD. And I will say that I too passed on buying S3 from DeepDiscount during this sale because I fully anticipate that Target will put S3 on sale for $19.99 within the next couple of months.

Anyway, I was trying not to post to this thread, but since I have: Yes, the DeepDiscount w/ coupon price for Veronica Mars is the best deal to be had now and it is, by definition, a bargain. However, this thread is NOT a deal. It's a request for a deal on a pre-existing title. It should never have been started in the first place.

If you care, here's a history lesson: The members of this forum about 3-4 years ago agreed that posts should be bargains only, no requests. An exception was made for future/new titles since there is likely increased interest in those particular deals. But for already released titles, it was verboten. Back then, the forum ended being 80% "what's the best price of XXX" and 20% deals. And EVERYONE agreed that it was really annoying.

I'm ok with everything here, and I dont post specific requests (although I guess I do answer them if I can).

I dont doubt you can get a season of VMars for under $20 6 months after it is released. Now that the show has been cancelled, it may be possible to get S3 for that price 3 or 4 months after the release date. But I dont believe that S1 or S2 were ever available at under $20 so soon (he stated 3 to 4 months) after they were released.

I just wanted to make the point that, given the fact this set was released less than a month ago, it is unrealistic to expect a price of $14.99 (like S1 and S2 now) for quite awhile. If you are willing to wait a few months for that type of price, well then thats fine. But for the near future, I expect this to be the lowest price available.

I'm fairly new to the board, but this seems like a very reasonable solution (I don't know about "EVERYONE" ever agreeing on something...but that's a separate discussion). So what was the action that was to be taken when these requests appear? Mod to delete the post? Move the post? Does the OP get a warning?

I doubt I'll be posting these types of requests since I know how to be patient (good things come to those who wait...) but it'd be nice if there was a list of these do's and don'ts. In addition, i've been able to figure most abbreviations out, but there should be a list of these too.

Deep Discount used to be called Deep Discount DVD so ity was DDD for short but now is dd for short but everyonce n a while I get packages labeled ddd and some labeled dd and some labeled Deep Discount and some labeled Deep Discount DVD and some labeled Infinity Ent.

What possible reason do I have to lie? Here I am arguing for good bargains and yet at the same time making up fake ones? Sorry, my dvd-penis is bigger than that.

My dvd profiler records show that I purchased S2 on 12/3/06 for $20.39 shipped from buy.com - I live in a state which buy.com collects sales tax of 5% thus the price was at least $19.42, perhaps less, if the sale did not include free shipping.
