The Namesake — 11/27/2007

MUMBAI: Mira Nair's The Namesake, starring Tabu and Irfan Khan, debuts on DVD on 27 November from Fox Home Entertainment in the US.

Nair brings to screen a sophisticated and touching based on the novel by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri. The Namesake follows two generations of the Ganguli family as they immigrate to the US from India to experience a world of limitless opportunities, only to be challenged to find the links between the world they left behind and the new world that lies in front of them. Kal Penn as Gogol delivers a sharp and dedicated performance as confused and vulnerable young Indian-American.

The Namesake DVD will feature a bundle of bonus features including director's commentary, deleted scenes and featurettes and will be available for $27.98.

It also includes English Dolby Digital 5.1 and Spanish Dolby Surround audio along with English, French and Spanish subtitles. Additionally the DVD is presented in anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1 aspect ratio and features the bonus materials.

No other info... I haven't heard anything about a release in Blu-Ray.

This was one of this year's best movies, in my opinion.
