If there was a fire, what DVD's would you grab?

I live in San Diego and faced with a very hard choice. Which DVD's to take with me when we evacuated yesterday. I grabbed my Steelbook's and a South Park Season. So, if you only had a few seconds to choose which DVD's to take, what would you grab?

This is assuming you already have clothes, necessities, kids Etc packed up.

That sucks. Hope everything will still be there for you when you come back. Personally, I have enough trouble trying to determine what movie to watch most of the time, so if I had to decide which DVDs to save I'd be screwed. But probably everything that is exclusive or limited edition, since the price on the "regular" DVDs have dropped considerably.

Wow, real tough call... Have to be "Gigli" or "Swept Away".

However, thank goodness for DVDSpot! I wonder if my insurance would cover the collection in case of fire???

Funny thread topic though.

Wow, that really sucks. I'd probably grab my Criterions, I have a ton of them so some would have to stay behind.

Only the titles that I know are valuable or out of print. If you have homeowners insurance (or renters insurance), you "should" be taken care of by your insurer provided you have a record of your dvd collection.

I have a lot of my dvds stored in books so if something like that were to happen, I'd grab as many of those as possible. If I made it out safely with all of those, my Ring of Honor collection would come next. Those were a challenge to get, lol.

I'd take my OOP DVDs, like 1984, and my Criterion boxed sets.

None because SDVD's should be about number 100 on anyones priority list. Now if they are HD or BR then thats a different story.

I would only take what I couldn't easily replace with insurance money.

Quick dash to cat carrier, 3 hours to find my cat and get her into the carrier. Any remaining seconds after my safe, pc, video games related to this dvd subject would be Buffy the Complete collection, and as many dvd box sets as I could grab.

op...so sorry about your situation. whenever those wild fires start up, i just sit in awe and the devastation and destruction. i hope that it doesn't hit you directly and everything will be ok.

even though it is the most cumbersome, i would take my OOP's (Little Shop Horrors, some Criterions), my steelies, and have to take some DVD sets like "Buffy", "Superman", "Six Feet Under", "Scrubs" sets, basically the ones that would be costly and hard to replace...i mean those would last me long time in watching, but to tell you the truth i would be very very sad for a very very long time as sad sack as that sounds.

Anything OOP getting high prices. Unless you specificaly insure your dvds as a collection all the insurance will pay is the original retail.

As much as I paid for it the Superman Tin better be fireproof, so I'll leave it.

I'd grab a few Criterions: Seven Samurai (3 disc), Brazil (3 disc), Yojimbo/Sanjuro box, and Monsters and Madmen.

If I could carry anything else, I'd grab my Disney Treasures as well.

I have 2 smaller cases that hold my Criterions and my signed DVDs. They would be fairly easy to grab (one at a time) and throw in the car.

Haha. I was thinking the same thing! I'd take my Seven Samurai and Brazil because they were so expensive. A few other random ones like Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, maybe seasons 3-6 of The Simpsons, The Office all seasons, Toy Story I guess.

I'd leave the rest and then cry endlessly for weeks after. At least I'd have The Simpsons, The Office, and Toy Story to keep me from reaching that dark place.

If you have more than 100 discs its considered a collection, and thus you have to have a separate policy on them. I faced this problem about 4 years ago when an electrical short caused half my house to burn down.
