I was thinking maybe New York Dolls, or The Stooges. Both of them have had an ungodly amount of "bootleg"/compilation type albums released.

So SP has only ONE studio album?

Might be Pearl Jam, given all those live releases of theirs.

Yep. Much of the rest is Malcolm McLaren trying to suck every penny he can out of their legend.

They at least have a few albums out each. It's ratio that counts. Very few bands have a legacy on par with the SP on just one studio album.

The New York Dolls only had two studio albums until last year, The Stooges only had three studio albums until this year. Both have had numerous compilations, live releases, and bootlegs based on that very meager output.

I'd say 1.5 really since "The Great Rock and Roll Swindle" is mostly covers and remixes of God Save the Queen and Anarchy in the UK , but it does have the cover of My Way.

You're absolutely right but if the Pistols have 32 compilations etc. that means the the NY Dolls would need to have 64 (96 if you include Some Day...) and The Stooges would need 96 (now 128 if you count The Weirdness). No one is going to touch the Sex Pistols with those numbers.

I'm not sure how news of this slipped by me. Any details on what's slated for it?

I bet Jimi Hendrix has everyone beat.

I don't really consider live albums to be compilations. I consider compilations to be comprised of previously released recordings.
