Smashing Pumpkins Taping Policy
June 2007
"a clear declaration of our new open-source taping policy...everyone is welcome to tape at our shows in whatever capacity they see fit...anyone is welcome and invited to document using audio, video, or picture cameras (cell phones are welcome)...although we do reserve the right to refuse anyone at anytime (especially if we feel the reason for recording is not for entirely altruistic)"

Neat.
At the Rush show last night, the ticket takers were beating the "absolutely no cameras" drum pretty hard. I can understand audio and recording issues and bootlegging, but pictures with point & shoot digital cameras? I really don't understand the problem with them.

Great news. Wish more bands realized that someone who wants to tape a show is probably gonna be the biggest fans who would buy anything they put out anyways. (I taped the Pixies, who is ok with taping, AND purchased the exact show I was at anyways via their website)
