New Space 1999 & Thunderbirds Sets?

Does anyone have any information about the upcoming Space 1999 30th Anniversary Edition Megaset or the Thunderbirds 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition Megaset?

Are these just the old sets repackaged?

Apparently they are, yes.

It's rumoured that A&E are about to lose their rights to the shows and are re-releasing them to make the most of the last few sales.

AFAIk the packaging does claim stuff about being "remastered" but then so did the original release.

I thought that I read that the Space 1999 re-release was remastered in a big way. I have the original set and I thought it looked quite excellent already.

That's here in the UK. Network did a new issue of the first season that was remastered from the original 35mm film and it looks a lot better than the Carlton releases (and the A&E's, which were IMHO not as good as the Carlton ones). The images are much sharper, there's more of it visible, the colour is better, etc.

It;s possible that ther'll be a true HD release at some point, apparently the remastering was done in true high definition - luckily, Space:1999 was all done on proper film, so it would benefit from doing that.

Really? In that case I'll just wait.

The Space: 1999 30th Anniversary Edition Megaset was released on schedule on 7/31/07. The Megaset contains 16 show discs and 1 bonus disc. The same 17 discs were released in an earlier megaset on 9/24/02. The only difference for this 2007 release was in the packaging: 2-disc slim packs this time.

The Thunderbirds 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition Megaset was scheduled for 7/31/07, then 9/25/07, then 1/15/08, and then finally released on 1/22/08. The price was announced as $99.95 for 7/31/07 but rose to $129.95 for the delayed 1/22/08 release. As of today, it is not listed at DeepDiscountDVD or DVDEmpire but is listed at Amazon. Has anyone purchased this new slim pack megaset? If so, can you verify that these are the same discs used in the previous megapack release?

THANKS!

same with THE PRISONER-they issued the 40th anniversary set -at 39 years.
In and on the box you will see the words "remastered" and "restored"
But the VOB files all match up with the previous set 1999-2001.
IF it had been restored we would see 2005-2006 VOB file dates

Can anyone say CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT? Im thinking about talking to an attorney.
It pissed me off so much that I went and bought the NETWORK UK version, which WAS restored and looks like it was filmed yesterday
A&E KNOWINGLY are decieving us.

If someone can get $1 million for spilling hot coffed-deceptive selling should make any lawyer rich-and maybe with enough left to go around for the rest of us.
