Anyone in Colorado heading to Film on The Rocks?
I was reading CBS4Denver.com and found the article - seems like fun, never attended before, so I may check it out. Anyone ever attended? Or if your out of state, anyone ever attended anything like this?
From CBS4Denver.com:
From CBS4Denver.com:
(CBS4) DENVER Some of the best movies of the 80s and 90s will be playing outdoors on the big screen at Red Rocks this summer.
Red Rocks Ampitheatre staff recently unveiled the schedule for their 8th Annual Film on the Rocks, the series that matches a local band and a movie. The films include arguably the greatest works of directors Quentin Tarantino, Stanley Kubrick, Richard Linklater, John Hughes, Robert Zemeckis and Joel and Ethan Cohen.
This year's news release about the series came with a catchline: "No carbon monoxide. No friends stuck in the trunk. No tinny speakers. Just a night out at the movies with thosands of your closest friends, an opening band, and acoustics courtesy of Mother Nature that would make Dolby jealous."
Show Dates:
Monday, June 18: Pulp Fiction
Band: The Beloved Invaders
Tuesday, June 26: Sixteen Candles
Band: Mr. Pacman
Tuesday, July 3: Dazed and Confused
Band: Coors New Sound Throwdown Winner and Ash Ganley
Monday, July 9: The Big Lebowski
Band: Zebra Junction with comedian Josh Blue
Tuesday, July 17: Back to the Future
Band: Born in the Flood
Monday: July 23: The Shining <--- Hope there's no "Twisters" around!!! (corny)
Band: Douglas Cameron
August: Farewell to Summer Surprise Screening Film (Date to be announced in July)
Band: Under a Blood Red Sky (U2 Tribute band)

Film on the Rocks is a great time. You get a couple of live bands, and then the movie. The projection screen takes up the whole stage, and Red Rock's sound is awesome.
I saw The Goonies a couple of years back, and it was a ton of fun. The crowd really gets into it; booing the bad guys, cheering the heroes, etc. You can take sealed drinks, food and blankets with you.
I'm going to try to go to Back to the Future.

I'll try to check some of these out. I live about 25 minutes away from Red Rocks.
