I have to admit that, while this might have been better with original stars Jason Bateman and Amy Poehler, this movie still looks hysterical. Perhaps Ben Stiller needs to limit himself to only doing romantic comedies with the Farrelly Brothers, ever.
EDIT: According to JoBlo it's also an R-rated flick. Thumbs up.

Looks alright. I did chuckle when I realized Stiller's wife in the movie was the religious wife slut from Harold and Kumar, and
to Michelle Monaghan.
Edit: Also, Popcorn (song), f'n awesome! (Brought back childhood memories.... of Pengo).

This looks like a very loose adaptation of the original The Heartbreak Kid with Charles Grodin and Cybill Shepherd. That was the very first movie I saw with my (soon to be) wife 35 years ago.

That's where I recognized the wife from. I couldn't place her.

There's a scene where Michelle's playing with some kids in the ocean, and she's wearing a black tank top with matching bikini bottoms...let's just say if you're a heterosexual male you'll be thinking about that for the next week (and even if you're gay, you'll still think she's totally cute). But besides looks, I'd say she's one of the best parts of the film. Not saying the movie is great, but she does her part really well.

Another perfect example of a Hollywood bereft of ideas. The original was perfection -- why remake it? I love those guys, but can't they come up with something new? And not just put a new spin on something old?

Anyone seen this yet? I love Kingpin and Something About Mary, but have really disliked the Farrelly's last few movies.

Somehow I've avoided seeing the trailer for this movie. Only seen a few tv spots for this.
Well, anyway I'm going to see this in about 90 minutes so I guess I'll find out how it is. I've liked all of the Farrelly Bros. films except for Fever Pitch but I also hate Carlos Mencia so I dont know...

The original is so funny, and dark, and they took outstanding material and made it a platform for Ben Stiller to do awful reaction takes over and over.
The other thing that floors me is the subtext of the original. The lust Jew guys have for the Hot blonde other type. Jewish guy marries Jewish woman, meets hot shiksa and goes to Frigid Minnesota on this ridiculous quest.
In this remake. Jewish guy marries hot blonde, finds she's annoying because she likes to sing to the radio, and slap him during sex, and then meets hot brunette...
Really dumb remake.

I actually liked this movie even though it needed a lot more laughs. I found it to be a very easy film to watch even if The last hour has practically no laughs at all.
So, I'd rank this far above Fever Pitch but below every other Farelly Brothers Movie.

Stiller is doing the same old schtick but I liked him, Rob Corddry and Jerry Stiller a lot in this movie. Some very decent laughs and raunchy humour, even if the second half suffers from the inevitable 'dramatic' turn that this type of romantic comedy must take (and of course, extremely predictable ending)...but it has enough laughs to make it worthwhile and anybody who likes Farrelly brothers humour shouldn't be disappointed...and if you see it, stay until the VERY end of the credits...I got a big laugh from that (and not the halfway through credits sequence...the very end).

Quite a few people were walking out of my screening today saying this movie was bad. I thought it was pretty mediocre. Its biggest problem was it just wasnt funny. And who thought putting Jerry Stiller in a jacuzzi with a nude massive breasted via silicone older lady would be funny. Maybe Ben was just giving his Dad a nice little extra. Kudos to everyone for making a film which they would enjoy making. Maybe next time they could add some laughs to it.

Holy crap! How did I not know the Farrelly Brothers directed "Fever Pitch"!? Not their typical style. It was an o.k. movie. Would have been better had that no talent Jimmy Fallon not been in it. The original British film was much better.

Too long, too long, too long, too long... I could repeat that all day. There were some drop dead hilarious moments, but it dragged ass so badly in between that it lost all momentum. I also thought there was a big problem with how they positioned Stiller's character.

I thought it was very funny. Comedies are so dependent upon the crowd at the time too. Very raunchy too which I normally don't care for but this I found myself laughing a lot.
By the way; someone brought an 8 year old kid to the movie. NOT a good idea. It's rated R bonehead

Sorry, I wrote that sloppily and I meant my then soon to be wife. We have been married more than 34 years.I don't like much of what the Farrelly brothers have done (I hated There's Something About Mary) but my wife and I have to see it. We are going today.
