Wow... Word on Spidey got out FAST. That's a very sizable drop. I think 28 Weeks will do better on word of mouth though, because I was not anticipating it much, but all the good reviews have got me going tonight.

S3's Friday opening included the midnight showings, so that's why the substantial % dropoff. Still, it'll probably be at least 60% lower than last wknd - while not unexpected it's probably more than the studio was hoping (given the relatively strong holds of the previous films). Looks like 325-350 is going to be the final domestic haul.

Yeah, 28 Days Later performed the same way. It opened with 10 million and went on to about 45 million. Then again, it was on half as many screens. We'll see...I loved the movie, I hope it does really well.

I'd say Spidey will get around $55 million this weekend. It may get a bump today.
Pirates 2 had $55 million its first Friday and dropped down to $18.5 million the second one. So they are similar there. However, Pirates 2's second Saturday jumped up to $24 million, so I'm not sure Spidey will get that large of an increase today.

Hollywood-Elsewhere says Spidey is projected to earn $60 million, a 60% drop. Looks like Disturbia will become a nice $75 million hit for Paramount.

I always thought Spider Man 3 would take in less than SM2 did. I figured it would end up around $325 - $350 million (at least $300 million, but probably the $325 - $350 million range).
It's right on track....

I had never heard of "The Ex" until I saw the poster while waiting on line at the movie theatre for Spidey 3. I would think they would try advertising a Zach Braff movie to my demographic. Perhaps they did on MTV I don't know I don't watch it.

Drop sounds right for Spidey 3, you gotta remember there were midnight showings of the movie at many theaters, many showing it on 5 - 6 screens at the same exact time, so it almost had an entire extra days worth of revenue in the pre-dawn hours last friday.
I never once saw an ad for The Ex, though I did see them promote it on a few late night talk shows.

i saw previews for the ex on tv a couple times.
everyone saw spidey last week and now are waiting for shrek 3 or pirates 3 since it got bumped up a week, so i am not suprised by the low sales. shame the drop for spidey was so big though. i enjoyed the film.

Only a 60% drop? Hulk had a similar drop and everyone was piling on calling it a failure, a disappointment, blah, blah...well the same should be said about Spider-Man.

Well I think Zach Braff might turn out to be a 'One hit wonder' at the Box Office.
Scrubs is one of/If not my favorite show of all time but the movie he made before 'The EX', 'Last Kiss' looked about as intresting as paint drying.
I can't believe 'Georgia Rule' took third at the Box Office. Who the hell wants to go see a Lindsay Lohan movie-the reviews for the movie are awful.

Wild Hogz got horrible notices. Zodiac got glowing reviews. Both opened the same weekend. Wild Hogz was a hit, Zodiac tanked and will most likely be forgotten. Shit happens. Bottomline.
Spidey 3 will be the lowest grosser of the saga, but still a major hit. I wonder how Shrek will fare next weekend? Could it also debut past the $100 million mark?
