New Google Checkout $10 off $30 (with limited merchant participation) expires 4/09/07

The deal is back at eCost and will likely be offered elsewhere soon. New restrictions allow only two uses per store (according to GCO terms at eCost) and expires April 9th:

Ecost
Bestprices.com
CDUniverse.com

See posts below for links to additional merchants.
Let's hope this appears soon at the rest of GCO stores!

god i was just going to make a thread about the return of this offer...

do you guys think DVDplanet and Buy.com will offer this offer in the beginning of next month? or am i being optimestic?

i hope they don't have this "2 orders only" restriction though...and longer period than 9 days please.

That's great news. Now let's get it to some of the good stores.

Hmm...a 2 limit though? Is this a change in system from the 1 limit before? (ie, what is it based on--per card? per account? per name? per email?)

Yes, there have been some changes; i.e.
Terms-
2. Buyers may only redeem the bonus twice during this period.
4. Limit two per person per participating store.
Etc. These seem to be the most important ones. Click on the link for complete details.

Ah man, I was going to get some things from Buy.com, maybe I'll wait a little now.

Also, gotta hope DVDPlanet has it!

Oh and it might be worth noting that the $10 off sign up that was previously offered ends March 31st, so maybe that's when places like buy.com will start this one.

It does on the Ecost link. It says two per person and then later says 2 per store. The other two links don't mention the two per store part. If it's 2 per person no matter what store I'm holding off until we see if Buy.com becomes a part of it.

to be honest, i think limiting 2 orders per store is just dumb....come on..there are crazy ppl who will order 494903 orders..why stop them?...ah well..i think google is concentrating on getting as much ppl as they can instead of as much money as they can.

None of you are having any luck getting the current GO $10 off of $10 order to work?

If so, you can create an account now and use it in April.

Good news, but I'd prefer $20/$50 rather than $10/$30...I'll take what I can get tho

I'm pretty sure I've used all the credit cards I've got for that already and don't really know or care to bother with virtual numbers.

I'm having no luck with the $10 off $10 deal. I made around 40 orders but they finally caught on to me. Even brand new card numbers won't work anymore. I gave up. So I'm ready for any new deal they wanna throw at us.

Does anyone think this is actually working for Google?

Clearly they are trying to become a central hub for everyone's online purchasing (which seems like a great idea in theory).

But... even though I participated highly in the 10/30 and 20/50 offers last holiday season, I went right back to purchasing directly (not via Google Checkout) ofter the promotions were over.

I imagine these promotions must cost them a bundle.

I highly doubt Google Checkout is gaining any traction, but Google has to try. Public companies are not allowed to sit idly by, even if they are profitable. So Google has cash to burn, and wants to make this work. But without the discounts, there is very little incentive to use Google Checkout, and in fact, reasons not to use Google Checkout. So I've also been buying direct since the 10/30 and 20/50 offers ended. And haven't come back until this new 10/30 offer. But I'll continue to take advantage of their offers.

Certainly isn't any reason TO use them without the discount. I have had difficulty tracking items that I've order through Google. They really aren't well integrated into most sites' tracking methods.

Did at CDUniverse. I pre-ordered Super Mario Paper (4/17) and Mario Party 8 (5/31), and it took off the $10 on both.

do they mean you can use it only 2 times among all stores, or 2 times per store?

I think it's time for me to revise the thread title to update the current info and note expiration date.

I agree. The major problem is the whole "It's google's fault" "It's buy.com's fault" back and forth between the two when there's a problem. Why do I need a middleman, since I'm not using Google Checkout for Ebay (which is the only reason I used Paypal), my credit card works just fine for ordering through websites.

And the vendors that Google Checkout have chosen aren't exactly the creme of the crop.
