Which online preorders ship before the release date?

i'm looking to preorder "Twin Peaks S2" but would like it ASAP (i.e. before the release date) if at all possible.

what's the best place to order from in this regard? thanks...

I have only pre-ordered something twice, and both times I received the item before the release date. Once it was the Scarface game with Sierra Online, the other was A Scanner Darkly with Best Buy.

IMO, they will ship early so that they could compete with store bought items. At least it's known that the item being shipped will go for the first price, unlike a shipped store item that may sit until it's discounted.

In my experience, DDD and DigitalEyes usually ship a week before release date. In fact, I had pre-ordered DVDs from both sites that are coming out the 13th, and yesterday, I got e-mails that both orders have shipped.

i've pre-ordered from many vendors (and a number will ship titles early)- i'd recommend dvdplanet/digital eyes from my experience. this doesn't mean it will happen in your favor.
obviously, it depends on whether or not they vendor gets the stock prior to release date...
DD, DVDempire and even overstock have shipped me titles prior to the weekly tuesday release date.

Of course, just because DDD and DigitalEyes, now DVD Planet ships a week early, doesn't guarantee you'll get it early unless you pay extra for Priority Mail. Most customers just use the free Media Mail which can take up to 2 weeks to arrive--even one state over.

So if they ship a week early, you may not receive your DVD until a week after street date. That's just the nature of Media Mail--not your preferred vendor!

DVDEmpire ships preorders out on Fridays and regular orders same day. Expedited shipping will have the discs at your door the Monday before release.

That's what I did, with the Digital Eyes order. I had some store credit I wanted to use up, so I sprung for their first-class/Priority shipping. I ordered four DVDs, one that was already out, one that was due out 3/6, and two that are due out 3/13. The good thing is, and I wasn't expecting this, even though they sent me the order in three separate shipments, they sent every one of them via first-class/Priority. I thought they'd only do that with the first shipment, and send the rest via media mail, like DDD does.

buy.com has been very good as of late. I get orders usually on Monday before the release, sometimes earlier (The Departed I got the Wednesday before it was released)

I already have received my Casino Royale I ordered from Amazon. From experience DDD and Empire also ship well ahead of release dates...

I would go with Amazon. If they ship before the release date, chances are you'll receive it before the release date. However, even if DDD shipped today (3/8) for something that comes out on Tuesday, you probably wouldn't get it by Tuesday unless you pay for shipping.

Just received my copy of Shortbus from Fry.com (a.k.a. Outpost.com). The disc doesn't street until the 13th, so it was a pleasant little surprise.
