Shinobi:Heart Under Blade

Did anyone ever see the import version of this film? There's a U.S. DVD of it coming out on Feb. 6th and I'm wondering if I should get it. Apparently it's like Romeo and Juliet only with samurai warriors. Can anyone recommend it?

I have the Japanese Premium edition of this movie, and I highly recommend the movie. I found it very entertaining with the CGI effects; and the story was okay...could have been better. Of coure, we all have different taste and preferences....so you have to check it out on your own and make your own judgement. Somewhat..it reminds me of X-Men - you have two tribes..and each group of 5 or 6 have special power...and they ended up fighting each other.

I'm sure if you google the title, you can find tons of review....in almost every review, you'll have a 50/50 bad-good reviews on the movie.

Check out the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7790QLjic4

I might pick up the US version as well....

I'm not a fan, but everybody has their own opinions on this one (They range, greatly), I thought it was sappy, corny, and worse yet, boring.

But to note, I also didn't like Azumi for what its worth.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I definitely liked the film for what it was. Granted, it wasn't on the calibur of, say, Zhang Yimou's costume martial arts pieces. However, it is about 100 minutes of decent performances, great action, and pretty cool CG work. Your life won't be changed by it, but Shinobi should at least give you a good time. Plus, the R1 DVD is decently priced.

I'm with RichC2 on this one, although, for what's worth, I didn't particuarly mind Azumi. If you know what to expect and you're a fan of this type of picture, I'm sure you'll find some aspects enjoyable. To me, it came off as nothing more than tediously melodramatic pablum spruced up with excessive CGI. Worth a rental, but definitely not $15.
