"Superman: The Movie", theatrical or extended?
I want to dive into the set tonight and don't think I have seen the theatrical since probably when I saw the theatrical as a mere lad.
Which is the better rendition?

I like certain scenes in the extended cut. The longer Krypton council scene is probably my favorite.
But there are also new additions I'm not too big on. The cameos on the train while Clark's running would imply that he's about 10 years older than Lois. Plus the extended version has a bunch of new sound FX.
If I had to pick one, I'd go with the theatrical cut. But unlike the Star Wars Special Editions, the newer version isn't a bastardization of the movie. Just a little longer and slightly inferior.

Another vote for extended; none of the additional scenes harm the movie, so it's just that much more time spent in the wonderful environment the filmmakers created, and I, for one, really dig the new soundtrack. The more crystalline "tinkling" throughout the destruction of Krypton just makes better narrative sense than the more conventional, heard-it-a-million-times-before booms and crashes on the '78 soundtrack.

Extended. The Krypton scenes are great, plus I loved the scene after the big Superman reveal where he confesses to his father how much he enjoyed saving people, and actually seemed to be feeling just a bit guilty about that fact.
