Isn't this kind of like people who swing golf clubs and baseball bats in the house? Seems to me that some common sense has to prevail. How hard are people swinging their arms to break these straps anyway?

I never even get tension in the wriststrap because I'm holding onto the controller. And you really don't need to swing that hard, but I guess people want it to be as lifelike as possible. Sometimes you get more power flicking your wrist the right way.

That's pretty much my thoughts as well. People seem to be under the impression that you have to fling the controller around wildly for it to work properly.

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking too.. my small living room was CROWDED Saturday night and a couple of people got in the path of an swing twice and it was nothing more than a hard tap.. I'm thinking you've got to really be trying to have these things break off their straps and even trying harder to have them break off and still maintain enough velocity to actually damage something.

Yeah, it's just people swinging at Mach 1.

I've not had it fly out of my had yet period, much less with enough velocity to break the strap.

It does make me worried to use it for drunken gaming parties though, as that would increase the chances of people swinging too hard and breaking (or forgetting to put the strap on in the first place) and chucking it through the TV.

It blows my mind how people can be so overzealous with how they're swinging the controller to do the kind of damage that they are doing. Think about how hard you would need to throw something to break those tvs. I remember throwing an NES controller at CRT TV at full force (when I was in my early teens) and it didn't even scratch the tv.

Today's cheap Chinese TVs are made from more breakable materials, like thin glass, peanut brittle, and/or tissue paper.

Which makes me wonder how many people dammaged stuff THEY paid for? Sounds like his parents bought him the Wii too. I'm sorry, but I am meticulously careful with stuff like that mostly because I worked hard to earn the money to pay for my stuff. I have respect for all those things, certainly enough to be whipping the remote around so hard and fast that I couldn't expect to hold onto it. No sympathy for any of them. Darwinism at work.

Of course, I'm just bitter because I still have no Wii.
