CONSTANTINE 2 -- news, rumors, etc.
I loved Constantine, at the time I felt I was the only person that did but it seems I am not alone as producer Lauren Shuler Donner let the cat out of the bag this weekend during the Unaccompanied Minors press junket to let us know that a Constantine 2 is planned and is currently out to a director and the news surrounding this bit of information is very exciting to those who liked the first one.
"We are really going to go for it, it will be a hard 'R' and Keanu [Reeves] will be in it," she said. "The area that we found is great, it will be outside of America. It will be a different director but Francis [Lawrence] will produce it, we will maintain his vision."

Good news! I think the first film gets better with multiple viewings. I read the Constantine movie adaptation book and listened to the DVD commentary and they help with the understanding of the Constantine mystique and universe.

I loved the set-up to CONSTANTINE...I just felt the movie got lost along the way. Had the entire movie been about Constantine trying to redeem himself, it would have been a hell (no pun intended) of a flick...but it turned into a special-effects monster movie about 30 minutes in.

Being a huge fan of the original comic, especially Garth Ennis' work (the film was somewhat based on his excellent "Dangerous Habits" storyline) I have to admit that I didn't hate the first film as much as I thought I would (although I do wish they didn't change the setting to the US with an American actor. The comic has a very British tone that really adds to the atmosphere). I grudgingly liked the film enough to be curious about what will be done with the second film though. I have to admit that I'm surprised it's happening.

i'm looking forward to this sequel. i'm surprised they are making it. the first one didn't do huge business but did decently. i think this is probably keanu's best acting performance.

I think it does, I liked parts of it when I saw it in the theater but had a hard time staying awake, I thought it was so-so but after watching it a couple times in HD-DVD i like it now

It will be interesting to see who gets the directors chair. Constantine had a great concept and not a bad script, but the direction was lacking in places. A new director might be just what is needed.

Loved the movie, and will watch this one for sure. I like that they said up front it is going to be 'R', I think that they wouldn't be able to do this justice with a 'PG-13' and I am glad they aren't just going to drop a few levels in quality so that they can get that extra demographic.

Huge fan, too. With the exception of a couple of small gaps I've got the entire run. Also the original Swamp Things. I'm amazed how long it's been going on. Good times, one and all. The whole British thing was the major aspect I missed. I really didn't care whether or not he looked like Sting. I would really like it if they could at least have one sequence with Triskele while she still wore that angel's face. That was my favorite demon when it first appeared (I got the final panel in the first Triskele story, my favorite image in the whole series, signed by David Lloyd this year). After that first appearence, esp. after she lost the Angel's face, she became sort of laughable. If they did her like she was done in that first story, it would rock.
And say what you will about Keanu's acting chops, this guy has some of the best taste in the industry concerning which projects he gets involved with. Making me a fan.

I enjoyed the first. It was flawed but enjoyable and grows on you with each viewing. I certainly hope the sequel builds on the atmosphere of the first.
