What HD titles got better transfers/encondings outside US?
I think this could be a very usefull thread for those who are trying to fish for the best worldwide version of a given title. Since here in Brazil neither BD nor HD-DVD has been officially released, it makes little difference if I have to import from US, Europe or Japan for instance. And I know a lot of people fall under this category as well, or are also just looking for the best version of their favorite movies.
For start, I believe it has been pretty much confirmed (by insiders at AVS) that the European HD-DVD of Serenity got a new and improved enconding compared to the US and Japan versions.
I've heard that Lethal Weapon might get a better transfer for Europe as well, does anyone have other info on this?
With the growth of both formats there's going to be a lot of movies distributed by different companies worldwide, so there will also be a great deal of different possible versions.
Brothers Grim has been released on US BD by Buena Vista and on HD-DVD in Japan with different specs, how do they compare? Has anyone performed any comparisons?
By specs alone I would be led to believe that the BD version has got a better audio since it's uncompressed PCM. But what about the video and extras department?
If people who got releases from various countries or know some inside information from the studios could post their impressions or information here, it would be much appreciated by many I'm sure

This is a great idea for a thread, but I don't know if anyone has imported any discs yet.
FWIW, I heard the Lethal Weapon European transfers would be the same as the American. I could be wrong, though.

I tend to agree with the Brothers Grimm review of the Japanese HD DVD. It looks good but the blacks are a little too bright. I don't have BD so I can't do a side by side comparission.

The only one I knew of was UK Serenity which is said to be better than the one in the U.S market. I wonder how the rest of the UK Universal titles look compared to their US counterparts?
