Anyone else have problems with the M:I boxset [HD DVD]?
[rant]
I am not impressed with the quality control of Paramount discs thus far. My only Paramount HD DVDs are the M:I box set and all four discs are damaged or defective!
M:I:I The disc is scuffed and looks as if it was dropped on the factory floor before being packaged. The movie plays fine but the disc locks up during the extras.
M:I:II The movie plays fine but the menu for the extras does not respond to cursor inputs. It appears to be a coding error but could be a manufacturing defect, I suppose. Does anyone else have problems with accessing the extras on this disc?
[I will note that M:I:II has excellent AQ plus the best PQ I have seen yet, especially in lab shootout and the stuff at the old fort near the end. Too bad the movie is so clunky; where’s the intricate Mission: Impossible plot? Why all the whiz bang stunts? And what were they thinking when they got Woo to turn it into a Hong Kong fight movie? At least the Bond girl, excuse me, the “Ethan Hunt girl” Thandie Newton, was pretty.]
M:I:III Disc 1 won’t load and the player gives up and gives a “no disc” message. So, no movie for me.
Disc 2 was a floater and was scuffed. Seems to play ok but I don’t want to watch all the extras until I have been able to see the movie, for fear of spoilers.
Whose brilliant idea was it to switch to the new cases with the worthless hubs? At least the old rounded cases hold discs securely. I would think that after almost ten years of making DVD cases, the studios and case manufacturers would have figured out how to make a hub that holds a disc securely.
So, the score: of the four discs, two arrived damaged and the other two were defective. I think that must be some sort of record!
I think I’ll have Amazon replace the set (as opposed to just go for a refund) but I am concerned that the next set won't have perfect discs either. And it isn’t Amazon’s fault, it’s Paramount’s fault.
[/rant]
Did anyone else have problems with these discs? Or am I just “lucky”?

I got mine from Amazon and have had zero issues with them and just finished watching MI2 yesterday to finish off the set. Watched MI3 twice and the original MI once. All 3 discs played perfectly without a hitch.
I just replied to the HD-DVD news thread regarding players and problems and like I said over there I have had zero issues with my player and no serious issues with any disc so far except Van Helsing. I had to trade my copy of Van Helsing in because the audio was out of sync. That is the only problem I have had with any discs and have never had a problem with my player. I guess I have been really lucky as it seems some people are having problems.

I got mine from Amazon as well, but until I read this thread, I hadn't taken the time to watch them, so I was a little nervous.
But, after inspecting and watching all of the discs, I can report that they are in percect condition, and all played without problems.

Anyways its clear that the MI series was never really trying to be like the TV show that inspired it. Even the first one had little to do with the TV series. Sure they had little things that wre from the show like the self destructing messeges and such but thats really about it. Each MI movie has really been a movie that stands on its own with the only things linkning them together are the characters and the fact they work for IMF. I even liked the 2nd one even tho it falls far short from the first and 3rd.
Sorry to hear you had so many problems. Abviously you should send that back for an exchange. Too much money to be ok with defective discs.

^ Weird about not being able to access the extras on M:I:II. I hope it isn't a player specific glitch (I am still on firmware 1.4).
Nice to hear that some are getting defect free sets. My replacement set is on the way from Amazon.

I'm on 1.4 as well. I've been meaning to upgrade to 2.0 but haven't gotten around to it yet. I got my set from bestprices.com, and one glance at either AVS or in the bargains forum here will tell you what a damn nightmare that was. I've got the SD version of M:I II so I don't think I'm going to worry about sending it back. With the way they shipped it the first time it'll be 2008 before I get my replacement.
