Welcome to Overstock.com Customer Service, you are now chatting with Cady.
Cady: Thanks for visiting Overstock.com, my name is Cady, how can I help you?
you: You're having a 75% off sale this weekend and I was wondering if Catalog #: 10387186 is included in this sale.
Cady: I will be glad to check that for you.
you: Thanks.
Cady: Thank you for the catalog number.
you: Sure.
Cady: Are you referring to 'Toshiba HD-XA1 Cinema Series HD DVD Player'?
you: Yes I am!
Cady: Thank you for the confirmation.
you: No problem-o!
Cady: May I please have the llink showing the 75% off sale.
Cady: *link
you: I received an email today, Here's the link!
http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2....ACK=emailcusts (*They changed it!
See link below.)
Cady: Please be on hold.
you: Okay.
Cady: Thank you for staying online.
Cady: I see that the item '
Cady: * I am sorry for the typos.
you: That's okay...
you: Tell me it's 75% off!!!
Cady: I see that 'Toshiba HD-XA1 Cinema Series HD DVD Player' is also included among the weekend 75% off sale, but the price mentioned as today's price is the price of the item after the discount.
Cady: Is there anything else that I could help you with?
you: You mean it's still $485? It says that's 39% off...
you: Not 75% Off...
you: How can $485 be 75% off of $799?
Cady: Would you mind holding while I check that for you?
you: Sure.
Cady: Thank you for staying online.
Cady: After researching, I see that we are selling only selected items with more than 75% off on our website.
Cady: I would provide you with the link that includes certain selected items.
you: Don't you think your ad should say that?
you: I thought it meant '75% off retail this weekend like it said. It's misleading.
Cady: Please click here to view the 75% off for some items on our website.
you: You mean those 12 items on the link page?
Cady: I see that the item you wish to purchase has only 39% off.
you: I already mentioned that.
Cady: Do you have any further questions for me?
you: No thank you. (Oh well...so much for that...)
Cady: We appreciate your visit. Thanks for your time.

Here's (in part) the original link they sent me:

As anyone can see, in this one, it says, '75% off Retail', but there's an arrow (directly below it) with words preceding it that says, 'Shop now', and directly under that, it had a 'Find what you are looking for. Search', search field. (The email still has the 'Search' option.)
When I ORIGINALLY clicked on it, it lead me directly to their website, and it gave me the FRIGGIN' impression that anything in the store was 75% off this weekend. The girl even said the XA1 was 75% off, that is, until they changed the ad as we spoke!
...and NOW the above link MYSTERIOUSLY leads to this page with "12" items for the '75% OFF WEEKEND SALE'.:

OH WELL...

My one and only dealing with Overstock was far worse. After a few months going back and forth with them I ended up getting some free product since they are idiots, but that was too late to help me out for a trip we took. I am not likely to buy anything there again.

Hey, Spiky!
I feel your pain!
I get really annoyed when that kinda stuff happens, however, I suppose I should have said that I have nothing personal against Overstock.com, as the XA1 they sent me is beautiful & working great, but this rather sucked. What you see above (in my original post) is what happens when you catch folks in a lie.
