Will the slim PS2 still be available next summer?
Title says it all: do you think the slim PS2 will still be available next summer? I want to play FFX and FFXII, but I don't think I want to drop $500/$600 for a PS3---especially because I do not plan on upgrading to a high-def TV set for many years.
Still, it would be nice to play those games over my summer vacation. I'm just way too busy during the school year.

I'm thinking of getting a PS2 Slim next year so that I can finally play a few games I'd like to get: namely the Jak and Kingdom Hearts series.

The PS2 is still selling very well, and with the shortage of PS3's, I would imagine that the PS2 would be available for quite some time - at least a year if not two or more.

Monthly console sales statistics
They're nearly outselling the other three home consoles combined. No need to drop the price--it'd be like flushing money down the toilet.

I juist don't understand HOW they can sell that many PS2's month to month. I would of thought at some point, everyone who wanted one would of bought it by now - obviously I am wrong. That or everyone is rebuyin' due to their PS2's dying.
Ah hell, what am I saying? I need to buy another. I gave my old launch PS2 to my father so he could play his yearly version of Madden.

Yeah I think it will be around for a couple years, the PS1 was around for a long time after the PS2 came out, there were still games coming out even a couple years ago for the PS1 ( I remember reading about a sports game being released for the PS1 and being stunned they still made games for the sytsem). I bet you will see the PS2 drop below $100 next year.

Well 'trying to charge' applies to me anyway. I would have bought a slim PS2 but the price kept me away. Amazed that so many people are still buying them. I still prefer the GCN.
