Who's planning on a Holly Jolly HD Holiday?

For those who haven't already pre-ordered...

Is there anyone planning getting/asking for a player for the holidays?

Just wondering what kind of influx of new users we will get after the holiday season. Maybe this should be asked in the regular forum?

I'll most likely have a PS3, but considering I have the Toshiba and Panasonic players, no new HD user out of me.

I wouldn't ask there. You'll get the typical "dvd is good enough for me" "I've spent my life savings on dvd" "they ain't making me replace my collection!" mumbo jumbo.

I'm considering getting my brother the A2 for Christmas. He has a gigantic 62" DLP that is begging for some HD DVDs.

Both. PS3 if I can ever find one and an HD-DVD add-on pre-ordered for the 7th.

I am having an urge to supplement my HD-DVD with BD, but I am going to wait till after Christmas, unless a steal of a deal comes along. I am interested to see if rumors of a possible Pioneer BD/HD-DVD hybrid player come true. I am more interested in the Wii than the PS3 and it is a lot cheaper so not game systems (that play into the fomat war at least) for me.

There should have been a "just more discs" option.

I want to ask Santa for both a PS3 and a standalone BD player. my guess is the fat bastard will only be able to give me the standalone player though.

Unfortunatly, I am my own Santa. All of the stuff that I want is way too expensive for me to ask for any of it for christmas. I need a new Hassleblad Lens that is 3200, some new digital 4x5 lenses for my new 4x5 digital back and those suckers run like 3k each and a couple new Arri HDMI lights that are also over 3k each. Basically everything that I need or want this year has a price tag of over 3000. I just cant ask for that kind of stuff from my family so ill end up getting some cloths, some movies, some videogames and a few other odds and ends. All of the juicy fun stuff I have to get for myself. Its a brutal world out there :-(

I have absolutly no interest in a PS3 or BD player anymore. Sony has left a very bad taste in my mouth this year. Wether that bad taste stays there or disappears with time has yet to be seen.

Since I am my own Santa tho I do always purchase something really nice during the holidays for myself :-). This year is no different and I am getting myself a Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain LX-200 Telescope. I have wanted one of these for like 5 years and finally found a seller with one in super mint condition. I have to drive to chicago and pick it up before the new year. Thats my big X-Mas present to myself this year.

PS..

I was considering a BD player, but Sony's lame-ass moves over the last couple months have soured me.

Maybe sometime in 07, but right now they aren't getting my cash
