AMERICAN GANGSTER (Ridley Scott) filming in midtown NYC Oct 16-20

Lots of movie equipment and trailers set up along W.55th St between 6-7th Ave for what appears to be several days (based on posted police signs) of shooting. Ridley Scott is directing, cast includes Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe, but who knows if they are actually involved in the scenes being shot. Actually, you can't even tell exactly where they will be filming, but it's obviously in the immediate vicinity.

It's scheduled for a 2007 release - more info (cast, etc.) here:

Is it just me or has Ridley become very prolific in recent years?

Ha. No kiddin'! Last night, I looked at IMDB to see what this movie is all about. Then I clicked on Scott's profile. He used to release a movie every few years. But now, he just pumps them out.

Strangely, tho', he doesn't seem to be sacrificing quality, and is only putting out what he wants to put out. A lot of his movies don't compare to Legend or Blade Runner. And they will probably won't be remembered in twenty years. But they're still well-done, genuinely engaging movies.

Short film "Jonathan" and "A Good Year?" I must've been living under a rock.

Are Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe working together exclusively now?

This could turn out to be a good flick. What's it said to be about?
