lame, straight to DVD, sequals...
i hate how whoever makes these weak ass sequals try to mooch off their only hit and make these lame straight to DVD sequals...
i.e. the Butterfly effect, the movie was barely viewable as it was, now they wanna make us try n buy an even weaker sequal... eh... vent over..
what are some of the sequals you didn't expect, hated, or just didn't like the first one and didn't want to see a sequal of it...
another weak sequal... SPEED 2, and 3!

How about American Psycho 2? The only apparent connection this movie had to the original is someone mentioning the main character from the original, Bateman, somewhere near the beginning of the movie.

Starship Troopers 2, I don't know what Tippet was thinking when he tried to turn this into some version of Alien.
I haven't seen Hollowman 2 to form an opinion.

I was dumb enough to rent Behind Enemy Lines 2 last night and boy was it bad. Stock footage gallore. the movie had a really low production value that when you there's a shootout. camera would just focus on the actor's faces.
I was wondering what is the average budget for these movies? I was thinking it had to be $2 million max. How much do networks spend on shows like Unit and 24? Those have way better production values.

From Dusk 'Til Dawn 2...and I can't remember how many of The Crow sequals were direct-to-video, only saw the original and the sequal, I know the newest one with Furlong and Reid was straight to video.

Besides that, if I don't want to see a film, I don't. A studio can market it all they want. I wont buckle.

There are some decent direct-to-video sequels.
The two direct-to-video From Dusk Til Dawn sequels were nowhere near the quality of the original, but both are enjoyable for what they are and they are approved by Rodriguez himself.
Honey We Shrunk Ourselves was actually more entertaining than Honey I Blew Up The Kid. Didn't have nowhere near the production values the first two films had, but the flick sets everything up and blows right through it under 75 minutes.
Zapped Again? Better than the original. Fuck Baio and Ames.

I think one reason we see so many of these sequels is because they can almost always make their money back immediately with sales to the premium movie channels (Cinemax, The Movie Channel, etc.) and to rental outlets.
