I-O Data LinkPlayer2 - HD Divx & Windows HD in One Machine

Well I just ordered what will be my 3rd DVD player in about 6 months, lol. Thought I would post this here as it was exactly what I was looking for and thought there might be others out there that were looking for the same. A solution to play your HD Divx content on standard DVD's and also a Windows HD player as well. You could of course buy separate players to do both of these thing but this is the first player I have seen that does both in one machine.

I am absolutly geeked about this find. First I have all of the IMAX Films that have the Windows HD version as well and they are absolutly stunning and pretty cheap as well. You can get them for 12 bucks a pop and DVDPlanet or DVDEmpire. While Windows HD may not be anextremely popular format it is technically beautiful. As I stated before when referring to the Windows HD IMAX films, I have yet to see a HD transfer that has as much detail as these do including all of the HD-DVD releases I have seen. They are, at least imo, the best transfers available today when refering to picture clarity. Now I can play these discs on my main theatre setup no problem.

As for the Divx HD, I have a boatload of stuff in this format including the 5 Part series Planet Earth by the BBC and Microcosmos which has to be seen to believed. There is alot of HD Divx content available out on the net if you know where to look and while not as impressive imo as Windows HD, it is still awsome and having the ability to play both of these on one player plus all of the other standard formats like regular Dixv, Avi, MPeg etc, well this was a no brainer for me and is going to allow me to play just about all of the HD formats widly used today execpt of course BD.

It also has DVD Upscaling but you have to reflash the drive to an earlier software version. I dont care about the upconversion as I have my Oppo and HD-A1 for that.

Microcosmos in HD? I must see it! There's no WMV-HD file on the DVD is there?

Their inability to spell simple English words on their website makes me worry just a little bit...

FYI, as far as I know this player won't function with any WMV discs encrypted with DMR, such as the Terminator 2 Extreme Edition. I'm not sure whether the Imax discs require an internet connection like that or not.

It says right on the website that it won't play IMAX discs, unless I was reading it wrong.

Unfortunatly you are 100% correct which 100% BLOWS!!!! I Was so geeked about his player and still am really but just bummed my IMAX films wont work with it. I am still getting it for its HD Divx & WM9 support, HDD Support, network support and so on. It has something to do with the discs only being readable by Windows media center edition. Looks like my beloved IMAX collection wont see my HDTV until Leapord comes out for Apple with Bootcamp. Oh well, there are honestly so many other great qualities about this player that I am only slightly disappointed by this fact. They also carry it at Comp-USA and I am picking mine up tomorrow afternoon!

As for Microcosmos in HD, its ubelievable!! You really have to see it to believe it. I know where you can get this off of the net so if anyone is interested please feel free to email me ill send ya in the right direction.
