DOA - Dead or Alive REVIEWS - NO Spoilers
I just checked, we actually got the earliest worldwide release for this movie (Australia), woot ! makes a change.
Just saw it tonight.
It can be summed up as a cheesy video game action film with a HUGE perve/eyecandy factor.
Worth seeing on the big screen for Holly Valance, Devon Aoki, Jaime Pressly and Sarah Carter alone. There is some serious pervy camera shots which just beg for pausing when it comes out on dvd.
The fight scenes were typical video game action style. Lots of kicks, wire work and tumbles etc. The fights weren't bad but did suffer from the majority of the main actors being non martial artists.
Story is secondary and is basically a watered down version of Enter the Dragon.
Anyway i did enjoy watching it, i won't be seeing it again but would consider getting the dvd.
Spoilers but not big ones

Too bad they didn't go all out and make it a hard R. Either way it'll bomb, so why not go R.

This may sound crazy - but I think making this movie explicit (nudity, violence) would move it from campy fun - to just plain bad. If it stays a tease, there's that sense of playfulness. If you want nudity, there's other movies for that.
I liked Corey Yuen's So Close which seems to be treading the same water, so I'm really looking forward to this.

...but not anymore.
This movie has been pulled off the 2006 schedule by MGM/Dimension, and they haven't decided on a future date.
Looks like you might need to purchase the overseas DVD of this film if you wanna see it.

I finally watched this (on Youtube) and it's a pretty kick-ass film. Very campy fun with excellent eye-candy. I hope this does see a U.S. release because I would see it in theatres and would buy the dvd too.

According to Dark Horizons, this movie is now going STV
:
- Corey Yuen's "D.O.A.: Dead or Alive" fared so badly it's skipping its U.S. theatrical release altogether and going straight to DVD in April.

I just saw this film at work and... boy, is it great silly fun! I loved every minute of it and adored every shot of Sarah Carter
and especially Holly Valance (I particularly love her whole intro sequence).

Yes, the plot is idiotic, at best, but I don't think anyone ever played the games for their deep rich narratives. It's basically popcorn entertainment of the highest order and only the most ardent fans of the game that think it's the the videogame equivalent of Macbeth (believe me, I've actually met a few) or those with no sense of humour (or, at least, no taste for low brow humour) will not enjoy this film. As for the fights, though not Cory Yuen's best work, they're very creative and quite varied (and always fun).
I definitely want to add this to my collection and do believe it'd be fun in HD.
That's exactly why this film works so well: the tease factor.

Well, here's another twist...
The film is now scheduled to go into theaters, even though it was previously planned to hit DVD in the US in just a couple months. On the Weinstein Company website, it lists this as coming out theatrically in June, (I think it's June 22nd, not positive on that date though)
