Superman: The Movie & Donner Cut ALSO coming to HD-DVD and Blu-ray
Just saw a press release from Warners, and it has box covers of HD-DVD versions of both Superman: The Movie and Superman II: The Donner Cut as coming soon.

Also, here's a sneak peek at the Donner Cut:

2) The Toshiba doesn't do PAL and it's not region-free. (I know I can just keep both)
3) My TV is a Toshiba 51H83. It's a few years old, a RPTV, and is sorta HD-Lite in it's own right, I'm not sure upgrading to this player will "blow me away" enough to spend that $400.

You have a DVI input on this, correct? If so, you’re good to go.

I have a 55" Mitsubishi CRT RPTV and HD DVD on it is easily the best picture I've ever seen on any display outside of a movie theater or planetarium. There is nothing "HD lite" about CRT RPTV. In fact, it has the best blacks/color reproduction of any of the technologies out there (except CRT Front Projection).
As for Superman, if they don't release the theatrical cut of II, I'll just go ahead and buy the 14 disc set. I'll probably buy it anyway because it looks too damn nice to pass up.
