Rerelease of The Fifth Element....guess not.
Reading Sound & Vision and there is a question about the rerelease. Same stuff we have asked....what about the poor slobs that have already bought? Do they get a free one? etc.
The answer from S&V:
Sony Pictures is now telling us there are no firm plans to rerelease The Fifth Element on Blu-ray. C'est la vie....

Perhaps this is as good as it gets. I think you can be assured that this one be a freebie with their player....especially if they want to sell any more movies.

Un-fucking-believable.
Hopefully, there will be an Overseas HD-DVD release somewhere down the line that will give us something better than "Superbit Quality"

It's times like these that make he happy that I really didn't like this movie.
Still, I feel for everyone. I know this one has a lot of fans out there and it's got to be frustrating to know that it has been handled so poorly...

Sony just doesn't want to be seen as being forced to re-release because the quality was so bad - it would be seen as an admission.
This is just SAD - as the buyers deserve to have this film in half decent quality.
I think I'll buy the Pathe HD DVD version when it comes out.
