Brad Pitt in Mission Impossible 4?

That would be sweet. He was pretty impressive in Mr & Mrs Smith, nowhere near as good as his roles in 12 Monkeys and Fight Club. Better choice than Daniel Craig.
Brad's mission, if he chooses to accept it, is to take Tom's job

Brad Pitt has been lined up to replace Tom Cruise in the next Mission Impossible film. It is a move that will make Pitt the highest-paid actor in Hollywood history.
Paramount Pictures, the company behind the franchise, ended their long-running partnership with Cruise and is planning to install Pitt in the lead role.
The firm is determined to keep the lucrative series alive after Mission Impossible:III took £212million at the box office, with the previous episode taking £290 million.
An insider told London Lite: "MI:IV will not include Cruise's character, agent Ethan Hunt.
They're considering a brief mention, saying Hunt retired to live a safe life with his new wife.
"They're set on Brad taking over as a gutsy new head operative who puts together his own unique team of specialists."
Sources say Paramount is prepared to do whatever it takes to get Pitt on board, and is even willing to make him the highest-paid movie star in history, with a salary topping £21 million.
Cruise and Paramount ended their 14-year relationship last month, with chairman Sumner Redstone blaming Cruise's controversial behaviour for the split.
"It's nothing to do with his acting ability, he's a terrific actor," Redstone told the Wall Street Journal.
"But we don't think that someone who commits creative suicide and costs the company revenue should be on the lot. As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal. His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."
Sources cite Cruise's bizarre antics - such as the infamous "sofa dance" on the Oprah Winfrey chat show - and his links to the Church Of Scientology as factors in why he and the studio parted company.
They say that with Cruise now off the lot, Pitt - whose production company Plan B is based at Paramount - is clearly the biggest star with a deal at the studio.
Plan B recently won a heated bidding war against Leonardo DiCaprio's production company for Max Brooks' upcoming horror novel, World War Z. "Brad is showing the studio what he's made of," added the source. "Everyone is very impressed.
"Everything's being kept top secret, but they're offering Brad a deal no one could possibly refuse. There's no doubt, this would make Brad Pitt the biggest and highest paid star in the world."

I don't know. I kind of sick of Brad Pitt too. What the MI franchise needs is a lesser know actor who can really make the role his own. Instead Brad Pitt will just be playing Brad Pitt, and that's boring to watch IMO. Just like Cruise played himself.
And for the record I'm looking foward to Craig as Bond. I think he was a great choice since the man knows how to act and not too many people know who he is.

I like the idea... I'd be more interesting in seeing an MI4 with Pitt in the lead, than antoher one with Cruise.

I'd rather have a new team built around Ving and Maggie Q with maybe Ryan Reynolds. I liked him and his sarcastic wit from Blade Trinity.

That story is total BS. In fact, I'm pretty sure Tom has some kind of deal where they CAN'T make another MI without him signing off on it, one way or another (whether he wanted to be in it or not).

Shannon, unless somehow Cruise has bought the rights to "M:I", I don't see how he has ANY say in the studio making another movie without him.

If true, it would actually make me wanna go see a M:I movie again. I grew tired of Tom Cruise's ego trip long ago and how he singlehandedly destroyed the very concept of the basic story with his "I am the star, we don't need a team" BS. Pitt's far more down to earth and has always shown a willingness to share the spotlight with his co-stars.
Still, $52 million? That has to be for a multi-picture deal.

Paramount Pictures, which recently fired Tom Cruise, is reportedly gunning to have Brad Pitt replace him in the next instalment of Mission Impossible.
But Pitt apparently would not play Cruise's Ethan Hunt character.
"They're set on Brad taking over as a gutsy new head operative who puts together his own unique team of specialists," an anonymous insider told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper.
Ethan Hunt would be retired off to some sunny isle with his new wife, according to the report.
Paramount is offering Pitt $52 million for the flick, which would make Angelina Jolie's beau the highest paid actor in history, according to the reports.

$52 million? No way in hell are they offering that much for one flick. Maybe two. If they offer him that much for one, then the movie's total cost could be north of $150 million, as they don't want to have to say that half the cost of the movie was hiring him.
Personally, I think they should just let the franchise die.

Why would someone of Pitt's status want to make someone else's sequel? Especially the fourth installment? When he could just up and make his own action/thriller franchise.
This would be like Warner trying to make The Matrix 4 by throwing the bank at Will Smith or Russell Crowe. Or Fox making Speed 2 without Keanu... oh, wait, never mind.

As much as I like Pitt, I'd rather see MI:IV done with an entire group of agents working together than just one man ala J. Bond. Give us more than the usual one man against the world flick.

i agree with the others. not sure it would happen, but i think if it did, i would still go see it. i enjoyed pitt in mr. and mrs. smith as a agent and think he could do it again.

I like Pitt but, if this is true, no way would it be an ensemble film. Even if Pitt would be willing to share equal screentime with other actors, any studio that would offer him that much would insist that the film would be 90% about him. He's an interesting choice, though. I just don't like that "gutsy new head operative" description. SOunds too much like Ethan Hunt redux. I'd rather they make him more of a cerebral Mr. Phelps (or Mr. Graves, if anyone remebers him) type character.
