HD A1 Owners: Do you use Enhanced Black Level?

Just curious how many people use the Enhanced Black Level option on your player. I do. On my CRT it seems to add to the depth of the picture, and it looks like the other colors are a bit richer.

Nope. I try to shy away from any kind of enhancements or reductions whenever possible.

I haven't tried it since I usually try to stay away from filters/enhancements and the like but I might give it a shot when viewing via my HDMI-DVI connection to see what kind of difference it makes.

I looked at a few different pictures with it on and off and i really prefered it off. I have a Pioneer PDP 5060 which displays dark areas really well i think. when I used the black enhancment with films like Sin City which have alot of black it seemed to muddy them up alot. I definitly prefer it without. I think it might be better for LCD over Plasma.

PS

That particular setting has no effect on the HDMI output.

If your system is setup and calibrated properly, then you technically should not be using enhanced black.

Isn't "Enhanced Black Level" a setting to not clip BTB in component? Or is it a 7.5/0 IRE type switch?

I didn't know that Josh. Thanks for the info.
