Great deal, hopefully it works for those who go for it! I signed up with Vonage, and it took them *forever* to get me going on their service. Because of the time frame, two of my rebates expired, and I was basically told "oh well". Not happy with Vonage in regard to that at all!

That's funny, because I had nothing but good things to say about them and my MIR.

I would go with ViaTalk or even SunRocket before I would go back to Vonage. Now where I live ViaTalk works the best for $199.00 for two years. SunRocket has the same but they sucked (that is my area) and they too were $199.00 for two years.

If I read both of the MIR's correct, it looks like the $50 is the only one that requires signing up for Vonage. If so, you could always skip the profit and still come out on top w/ free. Again, double check to make sure I didn't miss anything, which is quite possible

From the $100 rebate: "Service activation required and customer must maintain service for 60 days to qualify for this promotional offer." [Same thing for the $50 rebate]
I'd go with Sunrocket anyway. For $199/year, you'll save more than the $50 "profit" on this deal pretty quickly.

I think something like Yahoo or Skype are a better deal for regular users. You can hook a phone to the computer and make calls the same as you can with Vonage. $199.99 comes to 7 hours of talk a month for 2 years. I don't think I talk that much on the phone on the average. Skype is Free US to US until the end of the year and they run specials all the time on calling different countries for free. I have Skype mobile on my PDA which means I get their rates anywhere there's a WiFi spot.
