Dave Matthews Band Summer Tour 2006 Discussion

Good set lists so far, not playing a ton off of Stand Up which is a plus (played 10 songs off it when I saw them last year) and only playing the songs off it that are great live, lots of old favorites and rarities and have debuted 3 new songs thus far. Well 2 technically, though I hear Sister is reworked and most probably never heard the old version anyway as it was very rare. Kill the King and The Idea of You are new.

Key to the symbols after the songs:

* Rashawn Ross on Trumpet
+ Dave Solo

Got tapes from all the shows so far and sister sounds great now, Kill the King might take a little while to grow on me and The Idea of You is doing the same thing.

So far the setlists have been pretty good so far, somewhat better than expected and the tour as just started.

Yep, great set lists indeed. The one last night in Pittsburgh was especially good. Will be interesting to see what they break out tonight as the 2nd night in a town tends to have the best sets.

i'm going to try & make it to one of the East Troy, WI shows. It's about a 4 hour drive though. Alpine Valley is the collest music venue I've ever been too, especally for a band like DMB

I'm heading to the Nissan Pavillion show on the 24th. Hope I can make it on time, my friend and I both have a PH D comprehensive exam from 10-5 that day. It's only 40 or 50 miles but it's a traffic nightmare for big shows at that place, has taken me as long as 3 hours to get there.

Setlists have been looking great so far. I'm going to both Fenway shows as well as N1 of Randall's, couldn't be more excited.

Not to threadcrap. But is that the entire setlist? DMB only plays a set that many songs, do they jam or something to extend all the songs? Just curious doesn't look like many songs.

They jam a ton.

Shows are pretty much always at least 2 1/2 hours.

Most songs go on for at least 5 or 6 minutes, a lot around 10, and a few like Two Step that are almost always nearly 20 minutes (heard a few 30 minute versions of Two Step back in the day).

Actually doing more songs and shorter jams now. Sets of 18-19 songs when several tours ago 14-16 with super longs jams were the norm. But still 2.5 hours or so during both periods.

Yes indeed, great setlists. Everyone up there is a rock-solid show. I saw the 6.6.06 show at DTE in Michigan and they blew me away. I figured they'd play more newer stuff than they did... but totally the other way around. Found a great recording online, and it's been jamming in my car ever since.

Ah. Well that's more then a respectable time for a band to play. I couldn't imagine the sets taking more then 2 hours even based upon the amount of songs. 2.5 is a nice amount of time.

DMB is not my cup of tea, but it sounds like it's pretty good for the fans.

Thanks for the info, was just curious.

I love the fact that they haven't played All Along the Watchtower yet. Not that I don't love when they do, but I've probably seen them do it 10 times, so it will be nice hopefully when my shows come up to hear something else in the encore spot.

I caught the Nissan show on Saturday. Was a great show other than the weather (got soaking wet in a torrential downpour right at the start of the show). And could have done without Stay as the closer, but still is definitely in the top 2 or 3 of the 9 DMB shows I've caught over the years.

I used to love seeing DMB live - like 7 or 8 years ago.

Then I went to a concert - I would say it was 2000 or 2001 and the Band played for literally 80 minutes and left. No encore, nothing. The entire crowd just sat there and really couldn't believe it. Haven't been to once since.
