Can anyone recommend any storage items at DDD? They're also 20% off. I've always bought the pretty cheapy stuff to store my DVDs and such, but I wouldn't mind upgrading.

The 1080 CD OSKAR is pretty awesome. It's recommended each time this sale comes around, and I finally bought one in November. Was pretty impressed with the quality of it.

I got the CD 612 MISSION MULTI-MEDIA Cabinet. It holds around 400 DVDs. It's made of sturdy wood, I hear. After discount it was $191 shipped. It normally goes for around $300.

Hi...I was interested in this cabinet but found conflicting info from Amazon. They indicated a capacity of 298 DVDs. Would appreciate your posting (after you receive the cabinet) as to which description is correct and also what the weight of the unit is?

I just helped a friend with a move, and he was excited about this new cabinet he'd purchased that would hold his entire collection with lots of room to grow. Once the DVDs were unpacked and being put away, it was pretty disappointing to find that it was totally full with a stack leftover. I'd guess that the 298 capacity is correct, since he expected to have room for about 50 more, yet had a bunch of boxed sets that wouldn't even fit.

It IS a very nice looking cabinet, and it came assembled. Just don't plan to ever put 400 DVDs in it (unless they're in slim cases, perhaps?). It does seem illogical that a space that holds 612 CD's could ever hold 484 DVD's in their cases.

Yep indeed, DDD listing was WRONG! It does only hold about 300 DVDs. I got it yesterday. Yes, the cabinet is nice (made of solid wood, not particle board) and real easy to put together (just slip in the adjustable shelves and stick on the bottom anti-slip pads). At least it should make me keep my collection in check.

As far as weight: The package weighed 82 pounds. It was well packed, so some of that was the packing material. You will need leverage and some strength to pick it up, though I did not find it unmanagable.

I've had the OAK one for a few years now. It's pretty sweet. Only thing that sucks, is that it's essentially full and I've really outgrown it. Another thing, if you are only using it for DVDs, then you'll have leftover shelves that you can use for other things...

Definitely Recommended for the Fall sale!


p.s. - it can be a one person move (depending on who you are?), but if you're going up stairs, then you'd probably want an extra hand. Have someone help you, just to be safe.

Just a question I've always been wondering:

For the mission ($240) (300 dvd) storage cabinets, does it look like you can stack one on top of the other? I am interested in them, but I dont have enough area in my room to justify such a short object. I want to stack 2, fully loaded with DVDs.

Would this be possible, or would it cause the lower one to "lean" forward, causing the swinging doors to scape the bottom since it's only supported on the back/sides?

I'd love any info on whether this is (or seems) possible.

It looks like it can be done, though the feet of the top one might stick a bit over the top of the bottom one. Also, I'm not sure of the weight of the top would compromise the integrity of the bottom. I could see the bottom one buckling from the weight. I wouldn't do it.
