5 TV Sets for 49cents each?!

I was on CH's website today trying to find a customer service number (any help out there?) and I discovered something interesting.

I went to the website's main page but did not log in. I instead scrolled down the page and clicked on the link About Columbia House.

Now look in the upper right hand corner on the new page and you'll see a link for TV Greats. I was curious so I clicked on it. It was a different enrollment page than I was used to seeing. Still curious, I Started Shopping.

The next page let me select 5 TV DVD sets for 49 cents each with no shipping, just like the regular DVD Movie enrollment page. Standard fulfillment requirements. Option of choosing an additional for $14.95 and then just two more to fulfill. After selecting one more the total was $17.40.

I didn't go through with the app so I don't know if it would really work or not. I went back and tried the HDL code but didn't have any luck with that.

I thought the 2 for $9.95 for a great deal on TV, but this is even better!

Don't think this is a scam or fraud, just something I discovered on their website.

What you have found is CHs' old TV club. It's the one where TV shows are broken down into multiple selections. Usually, they are shows that weren't available elsewhere yet - Hogan's Heroes, Bonanza, etc. From what I recall, you'd have to buy 5 selections to get one seasons' shows.

No, once you get past the first page, you get taken to CH's regular TV on DVD Club, not the old TV Club where you'd get one DVD every few weeks.

Unfortunately, it's too good to be true - the shopping cart section is misleading. When you click on the Details link and read the Membership Rules they state that you have to buy 5 more DVDs over the next two years (or 4 if you choose the bonus on enrollment).

Unless it has the "TV Edition" logo, then yes - it is too good to be true.

Ahhh, I see that you're right. It says on the enrollment page to buy two more in two years after choosing a 6th one for $14.95. . .but as you mentioned, it says in the details 5 (or 4) over the next two years.

I figured it was too good to be true. Darn.

Well, even if you had to buy 5(4) it would still be better than HDL. But I doubt it is legit regardless.

This has been tried a million times in the past and never worked. Just a glitch in their system.
