Payment problems with Columbia House

Payment problems with Columbia House
I recently joined CH's DVD club for the first time. I received my enrollment DVDs in two mailings. I paid for the first by check (I was expecting them to bill my credit card but they didn't.). I sent in a check for the remaining amount once I received the second package (late January).
On 2/7, I pre-ordered the new Harry Potter and another movie at 50% off. The other movie hasn't shipped yet because it's "awaiting credit approval." My payment has not yet been processed, and evidently they're holding up my order because I have a balance showing on my account.
Is this a common problem? Next time I'll just pay online with my credit/debit card. In fact, I'm tempted to just pay the balance online right now and then the not-yet-processed check will just go against my 2nd order's balance.
Any thoughts or input?

So bottom line is always pay for the enrollments first before placing any additional orders, best done with a CC online, and preferrably when submitting the application.
Also, make sure you read some of the offer code threads in this forum. You could have gotten that second title for free instead of 50% off.
