What is this new style of music I'm hearing all over the place?

All it consists of is a bass drum, hand claps, and really soft singing.

It's everywhere I go now! I'm hearing it everywhere all of a sudden. It's all over MTV & VH1. The music videos consist of girls gyrating in very unnatural ways. Like they're zombies on speed having convulsions.

Damn, I officially feel old now. I just don't get it! Now I know how my parents must've felt when I was bringing home KISS & Venom records.

What is this style of music called? Is there anyway to put a stop to it?

it sounds to me like (c)Rap has de-evolved even further and this is the result. They just finally cut out the rapper.

It's an extension of rap, but not rap, because it is actually singing. It's really bad! Very soft. "Gay" for a lack of a better term.

And it's definitely more than one band. It's a whole style. I've seen several videos of this stuff, and I do NOT watch MTV & VH1 regularly, but they've been playing this stuff so often, I could've help but notice it. I was at Bennegans a month ago and it was all they played over the speakers. It has to have a name! It's all over the place! Maybe I should move...

Is this that music I always hear blaring out of every "riced-up" Honda Accord with boys-peeing stickers in the back windows that always sounds like weird circus drum "riddims?"

No...R&B has been replaced by new R&B, which has the male singer sounding like a 10 year old girl. -> Ray J, T-Pain, Frankie J and other girly sounding "men". Guys...grow a sack and use your voice. I hate all of them in that group. They're on XM alllllll theeeeeeee tiiiiiiime.

Hey as long it's not sampled from the 70's and not a remake.
Anything different from what came from the 90's with all that rap crap.

Ah. I remember the times that Pharrell Williams wasn't a hack when he was involved with N*E*R*D.

That's a serious lack of better terms.

Well it does seem pretty happy, not cheerful though (too mellow).

To be fair, although they had a few decent songs and were the inventors of black metal, Venom was rather silly themselves.

If you are old enough to have children, all you have to do is tell them how much you love it. This will make it totally uncool to teenagers and will hasten its demise.
