I do. I have probably a few thousand in my collection.

Only until I get off my lazy ass and convert them to CD.

I have two, and they were given to me at a concert for promotion. I'm not sure what happened to my others, but I'm guessing my sister took them. I've only got one tape player, and I haven't used it in years.

I probably have around 300 of them. I get rid of them as I replace them on CD (can usually get a buck at yard sales for them). Thought there are a good bit of them that will never be on CD, so I'll still always have some.
(also, being the annoying collector I am, I keep the cassettes if the artwork is different from the CD version..)

I still have about 30 left. I use them in the girlfriend's car as it doesn't have a CD player.

I never bought pre-recorded cassettes, all vinyl then cd. But I use to record all the King Biscuit Flower Hours, BBC Live, and live radio simulcasts. Had some pretty good stuff which mostly has turned to mush. Most started to jam, break, or the other side would start bleeding through. Lost a lot of great live music. The Stones Steel Wheels concert with a blues section featuring Clapton and John Lee Hooker, The Who performing the entire Tommy album in NYC., Foreigner live in Atlanta '79, The Firm live and on and on. The only ones I have left and should convert to cd before too late are Robert Plant live in '83. a Kinks New Year's Eve live simulcast and a Molly Hatchet King Biscuit.

Have, yes. Still buy, no.
I've probably got, oh, 600 or so. 400 are in racks stacked up in the attic, and the others are just dumped into a couple bags in the garage. Many are things I've never seen before or since, in any format, or can't find digital copies of, and others are virtually bands entire discographies. While I never paid 16.99 for a cassette or whatever Sam Goody wanted, they also weren't free, but have virtually no resale value, so I am quite hesitant to throw them away. Plus, by keeping the cassettes, my mp3s are arguably legal.
I keep thinking I want to digitize at least some of them, but never get around to it.

When I was in high school I gave people tapes and asked them to make me mixtapes and include a list of what songs & artists where included. That was one way to very quickly expand my musical knowledge.
Of course, you have to do with only with people whose taste you like or respect.

Yeah, I still have about 60 or so that haven't been issued in any other format yet. (Merzbow/Hafler Trio/Boredoms/Throbbing Gristle/Borbetomagus/Masonna etc.)
If they ever get CD'd, in the trash they go.

I also don't think I ever bought a prerecorded cassette if the same thing was available on vinyl.

I remember when CD burning and the like came into play, no more tapes.
And have you ever given or gotten a tape from someone interested in you where the music told how they felt?
Yes, I have cassettes and I'm not selling or getting rid of them.

i used to buy them a few years back for .25 each with cover art and all at local thrift shops...I would listen to them in the car, and it was just a cool thing to have. Everyone laughed at me, but then when they would see a tape in good shape they would get if for me.
as far as mixtapes...thats like a major social thing...much more time and thought put into it over a cd burn...I still make them for my wife from time to time.

I've got a handful in my car, though I never use the cassette player anymore. Not much else will fit in the little compartment anyway, so I haven't bothered to remove them.

Mixtapes have so much more meaning. A group of friends of mine that were music dorks (one into lost '60s psych and '70s powerpop and the other into hard to find disco 12"s and myself, who has over 400GB of just early punk rock and garagepunk) were going to start a buisness of making mixtapes for girls who guys would pay us about $30 to make this tape for the girl and it would be filled with a lot of gems that would impress her. It never came off the ground though but seeing that I am strapped for cash, I think I might try to do that now.
