Anyone a fan of Morningwood?
I saw them perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live and found it intriguing and annoying at the same time.
The lead singer was all about bouncing her breasts around. At one point she had everyone exercise so she could do some moves to jiggle those breasts even more.
The songs sounded pretty good although a bit monotonous.
This week's Entertainment Weekly gives the cd a B and a local alternarag seemed to like it but thought the second half didn't maintain the high energy.
Gil Norton produced (who previously worked with Echo & the Bunnymen, The Pixies, and the Foo Fighters) and the band includes ex-members of Spacehog, Cibo Matto and the Wallflowers.
The cd is $6.99 at Best Buy until today.
I did see it get a low rating by ChrisKnudsen (IIRC) in the 2006 listening thread.

Just found their webpage:
http://www.morningwoodrocks.com/
They opened for the Gang of Four!
There are videos on the site which I'm about to watch.
Here's something strange on the site:

This shot seems a bit forward:

I got their cd after having downloaded "Jetsetter" about three months ago. I really like the cd, though there is indeed four or five songs in the second half that doesn't live up to the first half. Overall, I'd recommend it. A big complaint I have is that the song "Jetsetter" is edited. There's a really glaring beep over the only "fuck" on the whole album. I knew that it was in the song so I looked around Best Buy just to make sure there wasn't separate clean and explicit versions and didn't see any, so I figured I was safe. It would piss me off more if I didn't have the unedited on my computer.

dcrw6 just gave it 4 stars in the 2006 rate 'em thread.
I decided to buy it online from BB for $6.99 but I still have to pick it up.

I like the album, but everyone is right. The second half is not nearly as good as the first half. After the song "Take Off Your Clothes," the album just goes downhill.
And I will support this band. Not only because this is one of the first CDs this year to be listenable, but I want to have sex with the lead singer.

Sometimes, that's the only reason you really need.

Maxim arrived today with a four star review of the cd.
Any band named Morningwood with a sexy frontwoman who rolls around onstage while screaming, "Take off your clothes," is the greatest thing to happen to music since Celine Dion retired to Las vegas. Their debut is a nonstop rock'n'roll record that's got a laserlike focus on the one thing you can't get enough of-sex.
waits for comment "that Maxim reviews seals it. It sucks".

I have kind of a hard time giving any band that name checks themselves in one of their songs - "Nth Degree" - any sort of credabilty. Still, it's a catchy song in that annoying bubblegum sort of way.
The local alt rock station around here has been that song for months already - so I'm surprised it's taken this long for the album to actually be released. One of my friend's band also opened for them at a show they played here back in November, too. He said they were ok, but not his cup of tea. The song samples I checked out didn't move me one way or the other.
