Columbia House policy on reselling DVD
I know this topic seems to stir the emotions. But it seems that if Columbia House doesnt want people reselling dvd, then they shouldnt purchase the keyword for wholesale dvd. It is no wonder there are so many that do it. If they didnt have the idea, they would after the search.
Try a google search, it will bring up CH everytime. I thought it may be just the word dvd, but I tried some obscure combos with dvd and CH did not come up.

The Columbia House membership agreement states:
"Your membership is for your personal use only and not for any commercial use. We may terminate your membership, without notice, for conduct we believe violates this Agreement or our policies, is harmful to other Members or our business interests..."
It is not unusual for businesses to advertise "wholesale prices" even though they are not wholesale distributors. Regardless of whether you think CH is being consistent or not, they can, and sometimes have, made a "business decision" to close accounts, and refuse to open new ones, of members they suspect of selling DVDs.
With the general softening of DVD prices of late, selling is more trouble than it is worth for the vast majority of titles nowadays. Even when purchased at CH prices. IMHO, of course.
(Yes, I know that there are a few exceptions; certain new releases and the like. But if you buy 10 copies to resell over several accounts, you may well get blacklisted. Doesn't seem worth it to me.)
One reason talk of selling is discouraged here is that a number of people put a lot of work into building this forum's resources. They might not like others using their efforts to make a buck. But since it mostly isn't cost effective to sell anymore, the issue is moot, I would think.
You may, of course, do as you please.

It is also to much trouble in my opinion to mess with reselling from CH. Just not enough profit for the effort. I was just pointing out that they are attracting people who are looking to do so.

I resold for years before my work load picked up and now have no time.
I would open and close a member ship after fulfilling the requirements. I would search Ebay for the highest selling dvds and purchase them as enrollments then i would sell enough dvds on that membership to cover the costs of the ones i wanted to keep
I amassed over 300 dvds at 0 cost to me. I went through hundereds of members ships with 2 open at all times using different addresses.
It's very tough to do this sort of thing now that dvd prices have gone down so much - i did this when dvds were still realtively new and expensize. Now there are a ton of dvds on ebay and prices are really to low to do this now.
I guess you could and keep like 1-2 out of the membership, but at the time i was selling about 3-4 and keeping 3-4 and actually sometimes ending up a couple of dollars ahead.
It's sort of ironic but know due to time constraints i just buy my dvds and actaully have had a membership at ch for about 1-1/2 years now.

Even when you average $5 per dvd you cant really make much money. Yea you can find the occasional cant miss deal, but for the most part, CH keeps the hotter titles out of their enrollment list.
In short, if you buy and sell from CH, you will always have an eBay hobby as Marsha Collier calls it rather than an eBay biz.
I just find it funny that they bought those key words. I know why they did, but for the most part people typing that key word arent looking for dvd for personal use.

^Two things:
1) The point I made above about the work assembling and posting the information in this forum being used by others to make a buck.
and
2) It is believed that Columbia House reads this forum from time to time. We don't want to annoy them too much and cause them to limit memberships.
Please just follow the wise policy posted by ruk above.
