Help me make an AC/DC Greatest Hits Mix

The obvious choices so far:

TNT
Big Balls
Highway to Hell
Back in Black
Shook Me All Night Long
Hells Bells
Shoot to Thrill
For Those About to Rock
Hard asa Rock
Let There Be Rock
Dirty Deeds Done Dirty Cheap
Big Gun
Jailbreak
Thunderstruck

Trying to keep it as one CD (80 mins) and with there radio/most popular tracks. Anything that rocks hard is going on here.

What songs am I forgetting? Nothing better in my opinion than "Back in Black" on my stereo

"Who Made Who" and "Moneytalks" would be other oft-played AC/DC tracks missing from your list. I'd recommend other tracks like "Sink The Pink", "D.T.", "Girls Got Rhythm", and "Let Me Put My Love Into You" if you still have room.

Go back and re-listen to Soul-Stripper. The song starts with a long guitar solo over Phil Rudd's bongos, of all things. It took me about 4 years before I noticed the bongos, and the tone....just frackin RAW!!!

If you're a bon fan, as I (not trying to sell Brian short), you might get a kick out of going back and listening to bon getting progressively drunker during hte recording of Little Lover. It starts out "Little Lover," and by the third verse it's ... "Little LovaaaaAAAaahhhaaAAAarrrrarragh..."

F*ing Classic.

Jean....heh....didn't need to bring that one up did I? (Bueller?...Bueller?)

74 Jailbreak- AC/DC covered "Baby Please Don't Go." For my money, that's the best version of that song I've ever heard. Very good call and response between Angus and Bon in hte second half of the song, if you're into that whole "music" crap.

Later.

Your tracking listing is pretty close to a mix I made a year ago. Of course, I left it at work, so I can't reference it for you at the moment, but here's a pretty good guess as to what I had on there, and the order they were in, too.

T.N.T.
It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)
Jailbreak
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Let There Be Rock
Whole Lotta Rosie
Rock 'N' Roll Damnation
Highway To Hell
If You Want Blood (You've Got It)
Hells Bells
Back In Black
You Shook Me All Night Long
For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)
C.O.D.
Nervous Shakedown
Shake Your Foundations
Heatseeker
Thunderstruck
Big Gun
Hard As A Rock
Stiff Upper Lip

...pretty sure that's it, except for maybe "C.O.D.". Tried to get at least one song from every album.

To me it's not a great hit, it's an overplayed hit on FM rock radio..

there's a difference betwee "Best Of" albums and "Greeatest Hits" albums

best of = subjective, the songs judged as the best
greatest hit = objective, highest charting songs

YSMANL is a greatest hit

"Down Payment Blues" off of "Powerage" would be a great addition.

Anything off of Powerage would be a great addition.

Down Payment Blues, Rock 'N' Roll Damnation or Riff Raff would be my top 3 picks from that album.

It's also worth noting that AC/DC has a few Aussie tunes that never made it to the US albums. My favorite being, Crabsody in Blue (guess what that one's about!).

8) Let There Be Rock
9) Whole Lotta Rosie
10) Bad Boy Boogie
11) Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
12) Squeeler
13) Big Balls (its gotta be on there)
14) Aitnt No Fun Waiting Around To Be A Millioaire
15) Its A Long Way To The Top
16) TNT
17) High Voltage
18) Jailbreak

I'm still amazed that AC/DC has yet to release a Greatest Hits / Best Of compilation. I'm pretty sure I read / heard an interview of them where they said they were against the idea. Still, is there any other band or artist out there that has released half as many albums and singles as AC/DC and not have a compilation album out yet?

Agreed. So far, the live album is the closest thing.

For just the Brian years, I had the following as 'Greatest Hits', mainly the things that were released as singles or videos.

You Shook Me All Night Long
Hells Bells
Back in Black
For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)
Flick of the Switch
Shake Your Foundations
Sink the Pink
Who Made You
Heatseeker
Thunderstruck
Moneytalks
Are You Ready
Big Guns
Hard as a Rock
Stiff Upper Lip

Yes, the band is very much against it, as they believe it would hurt overall sales of the rest of their cataloge. Since it still does sell quite well, I can see the logic in it.

Plus, as is made clear by the very subject in this post, in this day and age, seeing as how one can make their own mix CD - why would you really need an 'official' one anyway?
