Well, they do provide Ginger Snaps as a sample, and I personally liked that movie, the fact that it had that listed almost made me go for it, but I just don't like paying money for something that I'm not sure what it's gonna be.

Ginger Snaps and Immortal both sound interesting, and hey, the third movie on the Featured page is directed by Flounder, who is well known in sci-fi/fantasy circles.
It sounds interesting, and an average of 4 bucks a month on a random dvd isn't necessarily going to break the bank [although aren't most dvd rentals less than four bucks?]. If you got, say, 3 or 4 keepers out of that, it would be worth it. My concerns would be audio/video quality, and are they using this club as a way to shovel off a bunch of Sci-Fi Channel original movies?
And of course the fine print:
"No, all films distributed through the William Shatner DVD Club are chosen by William Shatner himself with the help of his team of expert film critics and programming professionals from organizations such as the Sci-Fi Channel."
Um, yeah. How much help are the 'programming professionals' giving him?
How's this for karma: As I'm typing this message, Winamp serenades me with
"I Can't Get Behind That" by the aforementioned Shatner.
I don't know, I don't know if I can get behind the WSDC.

I'd guess that these will mostly be puplic domain titles (Giant Gila Monster, Beast of Yucca Flats, etc.) with one or two reputable films thrown in so you don't feel too ripped off, and I'm sure that Shatner has as much involvement with the company as he does with the wriitng of his novels.
P.S. It is surely the U.S. edition of Gingersnaps which has been formatted to fit your screen. The Canadian version id widescreen.
